Did anyone watch the Preakness Stakes? Poor Barbaro! ; I was rooting for him to win the Preakness to have a chance at the Triple Crown (we haven't had a Triple Crown winner in ages!) and Barbaro was just looking so eager to race today. Props to his jockey, though, for getting Barbaro pulled out to the side and stopped. I'm sure it could have been a much worse injury had Barbaro kept going and fallen or something. Here's hoping the vets are able to at least fix his leg so that he can live out a peaceful life as a stud or something.

I don't know how many people have kept up with the situation, but I totally fell in love with Barbaro during all the hype about the Triple Crown stuff and I was devestated as anyone to see him injured in the Preakness. Barbaro had surgery and was doing very well from what reports were saying (his chances of recovery were almost always 50-50, even when he was doing well.. though at one point they were up to 60-40). Unfortunately, it now looks like things have taken a down-turn and Barbaro's chances at recovery are looking like a long shot. Information can be found here, www.timwoolleyracing.com/news/ in update 221. Barbaro's been a strong horse thus far. Things are looking bad now.. but here's hoping the big guy recovers at least enough to live a comfortable life. Information here also: sports.espn.go.com/sports/horse/news/story?id=2517953

Just like humans, animals can surprise us in miraculous ways.
You never know.
