Eveing has started to settle over the lands and some life is starting to move about. Demissle is making his way towards the waterhole to get a drink before starting his rounds for the night. His gaze drifts over the savannah that stretches around the area and he takes in a slight breath while pausing at the waters edge and looks down at his reflection before leaning down to get that drink. All seems quiet, for the moment at least.
Others are gathered around the waterhole already. Settled side by side, Fayola and her great granddaughter, Zaira, are chatting quietly, enjoying the peace of the evening. Young Soonali - Zaira and Xian's daughter - is seated next to the King's sisters, Mai and Enzaudhi. The three lionesses are chatting amongst themselves, giggling, and every so often calling out words of warning to the cubs frolicing about, reminding them to PLEASE stay out of the mud. A warning that Akase, Mai's daughter, has dutifully ignored.. as she comes striding out of the mud, each step accompanied by a sucking sound as the paw is pulled from the mud. The she-cub looks quite content and, upon spotting her uncle, races over to greet him (and, of course, to try and cover his legs in muddy paw prints). "Hey, Unca' Dem! Lookit me, I'm a /mud monster/!" Indeed, all does seem to be quiet and peaceful.. and those gathered so far seem to be enjoying the simple pleasures of pride life.
Kimondo's Queen paces through the grasslands beside her mate, accompanying him to the waterhole. She stops a short ways away, her own blue gaze drifting over their surroundings. Neyadhi's eyes stop at the gathering of females, and follow Akase's approach, grinning broadly. Kids. -- On the far side, Jaseti approaches the water's edge, pale eyes watching the others. She grins at Akase, the splashes into the shallows and lowers her head to drink.
Kismet has arrived.
On the horizon, come the approach of several lions. This small fleet of two males and a handful of females is spearheaded by none other than the Kwasian King, Sethos. His mane has fully grown in once more, the lush and dark brown hair getting blown by the dry wind coming in from the desert. There's quite a smug look on his muzzle, his body tense and ready for just about anything as his little band makes their approach. At his side is the young and smaller figure of his adolescent brother, Mokuba. The one that Demissle would likely recognize from days past. Also near the waterhole, is Kimondo's crowned prince... the boy tossing his white growing mane as he gives chase to a small monitor lizard. He pauses though when he spots his father and mother, starting to approach them until he freezes. Green gaze fixed on something beyond, "Hey dad... look over there" pointing a paw in the direction of the advancing lions.
Not far behind the Kwasian King comes Kisala, mixed in with the handful of her pridal sisters. The young lioness has only recently reached adulthood, the creaminess of her coat has been restored to its shine. Having joined the party at last moment to hide her perdicament, Kisala is without a doubt now, in the middle stages of pregnancy. Still very capable on her paws, she has been avoiding her King since the Prince mentioned the plans, thus she stays behind, mixed with her pridal sisters and out of immediate view and company of Sethos she tends to seek out.
Demissle glances to Neyadhi and offers her a smile once she catches up to him, a nod is offered and he then chuckles as Akase boundes up to him. "Well hey there.. Getting all nice and dirty huh?" The lion smiles slightly before grinning. "Turning out more like Grandpa everday kid." This offered while a forepaw lifts to ruffle her headfur, mud or not. Dhrouba and Aaith are with the others near the water, Aaith chatting away while Dhrouba seems to be sleeping and looks rather covered in mud herself after a day of playing with the cubs. His attention turns to his son and then towards the forms of two males and the lionesses. He frowns while lifts his head to get a better glance of them, one his met.. that young lion. "Everyone..Keep on your toes." The king offers while he moves forward, towards the others to meet them half way it seems. He doesn't remember hearing a roar, and most visting lions do that so this has him troubled. A half roar escapes the king ones he stops again. He would speak but he has that problem with speaking above a whisper, though roaring isn't a problem so the new commers should hear it fine.
Padding between Kisala and Kismet is a golden-furred lioness, black rimmed eyes watching the leonines ahead of them, but not a hard gaze - it's a purposeful, yet soft, look that is cast to those gathered around the waterhole as they approach. Nefertiti's entire body stance is a relaxed one, not one of aggression, as if trying to disarm the Kimondo pride before they arrive.
Akase beams at Demissle, her tail giving a please flick at the compliment. "Yup! Grampa Annie said that if I didn't get muddy at least once a day, that all my fur would fall out and I would grow polka-spots! And I like my fur, Unca' Dem." Indeed. And apparently Anubis never got around to.. you know.. letting Akase know that he was joking before he died. Alas! Kimondo is fated to have muddy cubs forever. XD At the arrival of the Queen, Akase leaves Demissle behind and races to greet her aunt with a cry of "Auntie Neya!" and an attempt to rub her muddy body fondly along the Queen's forelegs. 'Cause that's love right there, you know. Fayola, who is leaning lightly against Aaith, blinks at Demissle as he steps forward, drawing the elder's gaze in the direction of the approaching group of strangers. "Strangers approaching," The elder murmurs to her blind friend. "I wonder what they want... they're lead by a male." The other lionesses quiet, their ears pressing forward slightly in a mizture of curisoity and wariness. What's going on?
Neyadhi turns as Kengee indicates the new arrivals, ears slicking back. Akase gets a gentle, but absent, nudge with her nose. She sidesteps away from Demissle, leaving him room - though as he draws ahead, the Queen follows behind. If Demissle is meeting the others halfway, then she's going a quarter of the distance. To listen, and to act as necessary. -- Jaseti lifts her head at Kengee's words, and frowns as she looks towards the new arrivals. The pale-furred lioness plunges into the deeper water, swimming noisily but with fair speed across the waterhole to join her kin.
The roar from Demissle doesn't seem to faze the group as they continue on their approach. Sethos walks with confidence and with more than a hint of arrogance. His smirk broadens into a haughty grin. "Honestly... is that best roar a king of these pathetic lands can muster?" Sethos taunts in his deep, gravelly voice once they're within earshot. Blue eyes look between the individuals gathered around the waterhole before afixating on the pride's obvious leader. Mokuba, fidgets a little bit at his side... his gaze going to the pride's heir. "It seems this pride is as weak as my brother and many of my other sources claimed it to be. Thus.. the time has come for its extermination." Sethos' tail lashes, his haughty expression never fading as he practicly peers down his nose at Demissle. At those words, Kengee bristles and bares his teeth, growling loudly. How dare this guy insult them like that! His dad can take him out, he knows he can!
Emerging from the right opposite of Mokuba, a few lengths away from Sethos, Kisala curiously eyes the group around the waterhole, muddy cubs, random lionesses in groups. She stays quiet otherwise, letting the King's do their own little dance of intimidation until something will...undoubtedly occur. The other lioness' of their party begin to slowly fan out along each side of their King, wisely, also staying quiet in anticipation.
Demissle blinks at the comment Sethos gives and his gaze narrows upon the other lion. "You speak rather big words for someone that is on /my/ lands.." The king offers while growling out, a glare is sent towards Mokuba, someone he trusted and look what happened. If anything he'll never trust another outside of his family again. The extermination part gets his attention while Dem just stares right back at Sethos. "If you think the likes of you and your so called flea bitten pride can take out Kimondo you have another thing coming." They've battled worse oppoents then likes of this worthless lion after all. Aaith listions to her older friend and nods while glancing towards the voices, she picks up some and blinks. So far this really isn't looking to good. "Fay.." The blind lioness mumbles a bit while her ears slick back and she shifts up onto her haunches while her sightless gaze rests in the direction the new lions can be found.
Akase's happy-go-lucky expression falterss as her family falls silent, their attentions all focused on the strange lions approaching. Suddenly uneasy, Akase skitters from Neyadhi, galloping over the ground and skidding to a halt where the other lionesses are grouped. The she-cub snuggles herself between Mai and Enzaudhi, her ears tucked back against her skull. "Momma.. who are they?" Mai doesn't answer, instead exchanging uneasy glances with her pridemates.. all their eyes growing slightly wide at Sethos' words. Extermination? "Are they going to kill us?" Zaira whispers worriedly, her gaze seeking out Fayola. The ancient lioness herself, however, isn't trembling or cowering. She, in fact, stands, bright green eyes narrowed at Sethos' bunch. This isn't good. Fay' gives Demissle a quick glance, recalling their shared conversation and the promise she'd made. Her eyes return to Sethos, the elder openly glaring at the foreign King.
Emerging from the water, Jaseti shakes the worst of the water from her coat, and gives the newcomers another hard look. Lips drawing back from her teeth at the mention of 'extermination', she moves up past Neyadhi to flank her brother. A quiet rumble escapes her throat, silvery gaze offering more silent challenge to the Kwasi leonines. -- Neyadhi glances back as Akase skitters away, nodding shallowly when she sees the cub rejoin the others. Her gaze returns to the challengers, and she simply watches, tail flicking back and forth uneasily.
An ear turns at the sound of someone mentioning killing. "Kill? Only if there isn't cooperation. I'm offering all the lionesses an opportunity to be apart of a better and stronger pride... but if you resist... there will be some casualties." However.. that can all be easily avoided. A nod is given to Mokuba, the younger lion taking a few steps towards the heir, "Kengee... just do what he says. You don't have to get hurt" these words murmured to the white maned prince, who stares at him in disbelief, "I thought we were friends." Watching as his lionesses fan out, Sethos looks back to Demissle, "You have a decision to make." And while Demissle and this pride might have seen 'worse' but this isn't exactly a good situation either. Demissle's raspy words not being paid an heed, Sethos obviously thinking he has the upper hand here.
Cooperation.. Cooperation?! That one word makes Demissle's blood boil. "There is no cooperation with ones like you." Dem offers with thin tone. Mokuba isn't even offered another glance, though he is wishing he went ahead and chased the stupid kid off then who knows what he would have found out. As for Casualties Dem would have to die before he let ones suchs as these lions take his family, and most likely his home. As the lioness starts to move the king rumbles out madly, fire seems to spark in those eyes of his as he suddenly charges forward heading right towards Sethos. If they want a fight, fine.. He'll be the one to start it though. Dhoruba has waken up by now and she blinks at the sight as she sees her brother taking off and then glances around. "What the heck?" She questions while standing up next to Aaith, who is totally in the dark here. The blind lioness ears twitch as her gaze drifts from one to another that is around her. "Fay.. What the hell is going on?" Not often the elder uses such words but something isn't right to say the least.
"Demissle!" It is Mai who cries out as her brother charges forward, the Lady's seafoam green eyes wide with fear. Suddenly, everything is an unknown. What is going to happen? What's going to happen to all of them? But Fayola takes Demissle's charge as her own call to action. Old as dirt she may be, but Fayola has lived for so long for a reason.. she's stubborn and she's got spunk. She's survived nurmerous raids on her birth pride where she once ruled as Queen.. she isn't about to fall in this one. Or break her promise to Demissle. Turning, Fayola snags Akase by the scruff and shoves the cub at Enzaudhi, who is frozen on the spot.. and it takes her a second or two to grab the scruff of her neice. "Zaira! Take them to Kivuli!" Fayola orders her great granddaughter, giving Enzaudhi a gentle, but firm, headbutt to get the young lioness moving. "But.. Gramma!..." Zaira protests, glancing at Sethos and the lionesses with him. "I want..." "GO!" Fayola and Zaira glower at each other for a moment, before Fay lifts a forepaw to cuff Zaira soundly between the ears. How embarrassing to be an elder.. and still being cuffed like a cub. XD "Go, Zaira! NOW." Zaira and Fayola exchange one last look, before Zaira turns and flees across the savannah.. with Soonali hard on her heels. Fayola gives Enzaudhi another few shoves to get the young lioness moving, and soon she is racing behind the others, Akase held firmly in her jaws. "MOMMA!" The cub is scared, reaching a paw out for Mai.. and Mai lingers behind. Fayola goes about, trying to shove Dhoruba and Mai after the other Kimondo lionesses. "Go!" But Mai lingers still, glancing around in confusion. "Where's my mom?!" Fayola shakes her head, not knowing Sakitu's location, and bumps her head lightly against Aaith's. "Come on, old girl.. it looks like a takeover or something of the like. On your paws."
Neyadhi won't leave her mate, even if it is the 'wiser' course. Eyes glittering with cold bitterness, she takes a step forward as Demissle charges, then stops. A fight between the lions... she can't interfere. The lioness watches, transfixed. | Jaseti snarls as Demissle attacks Sethos, silver eyes flicking to his companions, lingering longest on Mokuba as he walks over to Kengee. Her muscles tense, the tall lioness crouching, tail lashing violently about her legs. She doesn't follow suit and attack... but she's only a hair's breadth from crossing that line.
Squinting towards Demissle and his raspy voice, Sethos acts as if he's straining to hear, "Didn't quite catch that..." although he certainly did, merely making it a point to insult the weakling king's voice. However, he grins broadly as Demissle charges... the Kwasi king meeting the charge and leaping for him, paws outstretches. Teeth bared and aiming to latch into his shoulder while also attempting to embrace him in a bearhug of sorts. And thus the fight begin, although Mokuba hesitates. Kengee, eyes wide.. backs up.. looking on as the others flee. Hearing mention of Sakitu, he shouts, "Grandma is still in the caverns! I'll go get her!" The young lion turning to take off in that direction. However, Mokuba isn't about to let his brother down.. and thus pursues Kengee into the grasses. Noticing the lionesses fleeing, Sethos can't help but think of them as a lot of cowards. No wonder this pride is so weak.
Cooperation would be the smart thing in Kisala's opinion, but those of the fairer sex often think more by their brains than with horomones and stubborn natures that she has decided governs males actions. As if on command, the pridal sisters advance to block anyone interferring with the Kings as Dimissle decides upon the more violent way of things. Kisala watches as the elderly depart, she eyes the Queen with curiousity, how could she not, she'd never expect the queen to leave her mate. Several pairs of eyes lock onto Jaseti, finding her to be the biggest threat at the moment, along with a few on Mai. Allowing the males to fight it out the Kwasian lioness hold off at the moment.
The other queen called it - this seems to be a fight between kings. Nefertiti herself isn't about to step in and start squabbling with some random lioness; she's a bit of a pacifist, preferring to smooth things out with words rather than use claws as talking points.
Glancing over to Nefertiti, Kismet seems to be trembling upon her four paws. Though she has traveled here with Kwasi, it is obvious the girl with the mysterious past seems to be at odds. Her tail flickers from side to side, before her blue eyes harden quickly. Nostrils flaring, she darts off through the grass, making a wide arc around the two battling males, slowly trotting towards the lionesses that have decided to stay. Her ears raise upwards slowly, her body tense.
Aaith grunts some while she hauls her form up onto her paws, ears folding as she catches the sound of the fight starting. None of this is fair, she didn't think she would have to deal, or hear this again but here it goes again. "Which way?" She questions the older lioness, unsure at all which way to go at the moment. Dhoruba blinks as she watches her brother charge off into the attack while her siser is there as well. "Ya but.. shouldn't we be helping Dem?" She questions to Fay while she stumbles forward on her paws not wanting to leave like this. Then there's talk of her mother not being here and she glances around then looks after Kengee. Her attention turns though as she catches the sound of movement in the grasses coming towards her and she turns letting a thick growl escape her, no matter who is might be she isn't taking any chances it seems. There was nothing about cooperation here, Sethos wanted no more then to take his family from him, which Demissle was not going to let. Dem's shoulder is missed by the others fangs at the moment, the bearhug half gets him seeing how he lunged up as well to pumple the other with his forepaws. His forepaws go to slam into the other lion's chest, claws fully extended while he snaps out trying to grab hold of Sethos face if its close enough, and if not that his neck while forepaws also go to shove against him to try and push him backwards.
Fayola gives Aaith's head a gentle nudge. "If you go out that way, you're right on the trail of Zaira, Soonali and Enzaudhi. Just keep going straight.. you'll catch up with them. I'm staying here and will catch up with them later.. can't let idiot youngsters like this jerk," Her head dips in Sethos' direction. "Think that he can just waltz on in here and do whatever he likes, eh?" And, having given her position, she doubts Aaith will decide to leave just yet.. and Fayola keeps close to her blind friend's side, ready to take on any who come their way. Mai lingers nearby, nodding at Dhoruba's words. They can't just abaondon Demissle yet.. although Mai herself believes it far from cowardly having sent some of the others on. Wouldn't be good to have Kimondo completely anihilated, would it? Dark lips peel back from her teeth, and Mai turns a snarl on the approaching Kismet. She doesn't attack - yet - but it's a warning: leave us alone.
For Neyadhi, only the lions matter. She doesn't notice Kismet's approach, nor the snarl Mai turns her way. Jaseti is equally ignored. Blue eyes remain focused on the battle, watching, waiting. | As Mokuba takes off after Kengee, Jaseti lets out an angry snarl only slightly shy of being worth the name roar, long legs uncoiling as she launches herself after the younger male, aiming for the simple tactic of barreling into him for now. Jaseti wants to hurt something. Mokuba will do nicely.
Enzaudhi wasn't a creature built for conflicts like this--fights make her nervous, and she's not at all gung-ho about seeing whose pride can kick whose butt. Having never even /heard/ of Kwasi, it makes her upset as well as /angry/ that they've just come barging in like this. She'd started out running, holding the scruff of Akase's neck awkwardly between her teeth, but now the thin adolescent is slowing, her tail lashing in agitation, and glancing over her shoulder, uncertain--that's her /brother/ over there fighting with that strange king, and her sister staying behind, and--! Oh, this makes her /mad/, but she's never been a very /effective/ girl--her glower, while indignant, isn't very menacing at all. Still, she's stopped, shifting her grip on Akase a little--she's never really held a cub, and so /on top of all this/, Enz is worried that she'll drop the girl. Grrr. If she were bigger and braver, Sethos would be /dead/.
It could have been about cooperation. The rise and falls of kings is a part of nature. Eventually a stronger lion will come along to claim what is his, if he's not a strong ruler. This is precisely what Sethos was doing. He has nothing against Demissle nor the pride.. its merely a strategic move to benefit his own pride. Taking out the weak, in order to feed the strong. Natural selection or what have you. But well.. not all lions see things the way Sethos does. He's not easily fended off either though. Gutteral snarls come from Sethos' throat as he and Demissle continue to engage in battle, fighting for dominance and the rights to own the females.. in Sethos' case at the very least. A few blows are taken against his maned chest, but he's hardly detered, trying to get a firm grip on the other lion in attempt to slam him to the ground. He pulls his face back, snapping in turn back at Demissle. He staggers backward a couple steps at the pushings... and he tries to push back, all the while trying to get Demissle to lose his footing. However, Mokuba is knocked over by the barreling Jaseti... the young lion growling before getting back up. Sethos pushes away from Demissle to glance his brother's way, "Mokuba! ... Help him!" he barks at one of the lionesses before lunging at the Kimondo king once more.
Kisala watches the Queen intently, her green gaze flicks several times to follow events of the fight and such. The retreat of several, she understands it is important to get the young clear, the eldery for their lives, in her opinion the choice few lionesses of the pride has stayed. Catching Kismet disappear she can only wonder where her pridal sister is headed off to. At Sethos orders she dismisses her gaze of the queen for a few moments to catch Jaseti take off after Mokuba, the urge to perhaps baby Mokuba and help him out makes her step that way but she has an inkling Jaseti will get her own by another means. Nodding towards the lionesses fanned around, they remain where they are, blocking the Kings from any interferance, yet also ready to head off the lioness that have stayed, foolishly.

Sethos' tail lashes, his haughty expression never fading as he practicly peers down his nose at Demissle.
