OK, this actually happened back in March.. but here it is for anyone who wants to read it.
(- Kimondo -) Rolling Meadow
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Coming to this grassy meadow you look out on the gently rolling hills. A soft breeze blows salty sea air, and you know that the ocean must be near by. If you look hard enough you can see shores of black sand over the rise of the hills. In the opposite direction of the beach is the back of Kimondo Rock, rising up towards the sky. Soft grass grows here and more toward the beach, tall golden grass grow from the sand as well. A few flower grow here and only one tree a little ways away. A woven bridge ascends to the large baobab, indicating that some must live there.
------------------ Kimondo Commands: MAP PRIDELIST KOOCS --------------------
Early evening. Kimondo. The weather is perfect, pleasantly warm and with a gentle breeze moving the golden grasses in gentle waves like some land-based ocean. It's a time for the local lion pride to be content and at ease, both with each other and with their lot in life. As the stars begin to twinkle into focus in the sky overhead, many of the pride have gathered here in the meadow. A young cape buffalo bull lies dead, his blood staining the dirt and grass a rich crimson, victim to the Kimondo huntresses skill. The carcass has already been ripped open and eaten from and a few lionesses are still crowded around it, eating casually as they chatter at one another. Fayola, Esiankiki, Mai and Tamri discuss the hunt - or, in Fayola's case - hunts long since passed as they eat, every so often looking up to grin as a lion-shaped stampede thunders by. Said stampede consists of five small cubs - two females and a male belonging to Mai, and a male and a female belonging to Tamri - and one big 'cub'.. Anubis. All six are mud splattered, hinting at just what sort of activities the group of grandchildren and grandfather have been up to all day. The five cubs race ahead of the elder, squealing and laughing as they try not to be caught by the 'monster'. Anubis gleefully chases the cubs, even though he has a feeling that he'll regret all this racing about tomorrow, thanks to old joints not behaving quite like they used to. But for now he's enjoying the time he gets to spend relaxing and having fun. They race past the feeding lionesses.. where the five cubs suddenly swing around and come racing at Annie, who turns (lacking the speed and semi-grace he used to have, mind) and allows himself to be chased back in the direction they'd just come from.. all six laughing as they go. It makes for a peaceful setting for the evening. Just another night in the life of the pride.
Two more figures approach in the not so far distance. A stark white form next to one of white and gold. Its Sakitu.. having gone to fetch the pride's heir for the evening meal. The aging lioness looking ahead and smiling as she observes the stampede of cubs and Annie... the lioness shaking her head in amusement. Kengee follows along at her side... the young male seemingly growing and maturing more each day. His figure is starting to fill out... looking less cub-like and more like the dashing young male he's becoming. However, he's still got a ways to go before reaching full potential. The youth's white, growing mane fluttering in the breeze that blows in from the nearby ocean.
The word of a kill hs gotten through to mostin the pride, the king can be caught sight of making his way towards the others not to long after Sakitu and Kengee are there. Demissle stopped by the cave to see if anyone else was there and then made his way here with Aaith in tow. The rather elder lioness wnting to stretch her legs then sit at the cave and wait for someone to bring her some food back, its such a nice evening to so Dem didn't see a reason why she would have to stay on her own. The lion catches sight of the six 'cubs' playing and chuckles softly at it while telling Aaith what is going on while they grow closer.
Ew. Mud. Squelchy, gooey, cold, smelly /mud/. ...And yet Enzaudhi? Is about to implicate herself in this game of chase anyway. She hasn't eaten yet--she eats like a bird, so it follows easily enough that she just isn't hungry--but she /is/ working a little on her stalking skills. The thought of going out with the hunting party intimidates her; coordinating so many lionesses seems so /difficult/, and in any case her fur sticks out rather badly against the grasses. So she practises instead, stalking low through the grasses; she's rather admirably silent, sliiiding around a broken twig and choosing her steps carefully so that she doesn't rustle anything. ...They're coming back this way, she can tell; her view's rather limited from here, but her ears are sharp. So she hunkers down, belly touching the dirt, and waits for Anubis and his entourage to come back this way. Planning something a little silly? Enz? Not at all!
Kengee isn't the only one filling out.. no. Another teenager is slowly walking the path to adulthood. Lanky? Not quite anymore.. the daughter of Xian is growing up rapidly these days, thanks to the hard training of Zaira. Nevermind the girl doesn't wish to become head huntress like her mother... still, Soonali is now a muscular young lioness.. like any girl of her age. "Evening," Greets the pale tan individual, a beaming smile is flashed to all those present, and a respectful bow is added to the elders and the royals....and the royal elders, of course! A thin brow quirks gently at Anubis playing, but he is regarded with a gentle smile nonetheless. She looks over the kill, but it doesn't seem she's come this way for the food. White paws allow their toes to tickle the earth, and she comes to a gentle stop near Fayola. Her eyes, a clear turquoise like tropical waters, overlook the lands around them, and she breathes in gently. It's a beautiful evening, indeed...
The playful game of chase takes another turn as, once again, Anubis turns.. and it is again the elder chasing the cubs. The children squeal in surprise and skitter quickly in their attempts to get turned back around in order to avoid being caught. They lead the way across the meadow, Annie completely unaware that his back is now presented as a target to his sneakily stealthy youngest daughter, Enzaudhi. Not that Annie would notice even if she were making a ruckus in her location.. he's male and, thus, ignorant of his surroundings. And Annie has always been /doubly/ ignorant of his surroundings. XD; The elder and cubs race back in the other direction.. the cubs racing under and between the legs of Sakitu and Kengee. Anubis.. who would bowl the two over had he attempted the same.. skitters awkwardly around them, with only the briefest glances at the pair in greeting. Finishing their meal, Mai and Tamri move away from the kill, side-stepping to avoid the leonine stampede. "Heya, Dem'," Mai greets her brother, gold-tufted tail flicking in greeting. Fayola remains by the kill, lifting her muzzle slightly to hail her dearest friend, Aaith, allowing the blind lioness to use her voice as a guide to the kill. ""Hey, Soon'!" "Evening, Mom. Kengee." And thus greetings are exchanged.. with Tamri pausing alongside the former Queen, watching with amsuement as the game of chase continues. "Man.. the cavern is gunna be filled with some snorin' cubs.. big AND small.. tonight!"
Eek! Ack! Whoa! ; Sakitu and Kengee find themselves avoiding stepping on a plethora of cubs as they run underneath them. Both young lion and grandmother looking as if they're doing a dance as paws are lifted and placed back down to avoid the children. Its then that Anubis streaks by, "Now, Anubis!" Sakitu chides after him... although not seriously enough to really warrant anything. Kengee just grins before picking up the pace to the kill. "Hey hey.." the young male quickly greets everyone without really looking at any faces. He's just hungry.. he's got a rather healthy appetite you know.. he's still growing! Thus Kengee helps himself and digs into the kill. Sakitu takes longer to arrive... stepping with the regal grace of the Queen she use to be. "Evening" is her reply, especially to her daughter, with a dip of her head. "Kengee... it is improper to eat in such a fashion. Look.. you're getting blood all over yourself." u_u Sakitu has become rather fond of her grandson and has taken it upon herself to try and teach him a few manners. XD
Demissle smiles and nods to Soonali, Sakitu, Kengee and all the rest (way to many names!) "Evening mom, Fayola, Mai, Kengee. I see dad is feeling like his normal self tonight." The king offers while glancing back over to the ones playing chuckling while he settles down near his mother and grins some at his son finding it amsuing about the manner teaching his getting and does his best to hold back a snicker. Hey.. he got the same deal when he was younger so his not going to stop it. Aaith tilts her head hearing the ones bouncing around playing and smiles before heading on to where Fayola is and bumps her head to the other's side, or she thinks its her side. "Evening all." She offers while sinking down to the ground with a yawn escaping her.
Wait, wait, where are they going /now/? Enzaudhi lifts herself up a bit, creeping a few more feet; one blue eye squints through a break in the grasses, searching out the mass of lion and cubs. The others around the kill--various siblings, a nephew, and her mother, of course--don't go unnoticed, but right now she's intent on her self-appointed task and isn't exactly going to break cover to go say hello. The eye vanishes once more as she crouches back down, muscles tensing; her tail is an agitated pendulum as she waits, the very tip working like /crazy/ by her haunches. And then, when she hears that they've come close enough, she springs--abrupt, with all the force of a lanky steam engine--one that's headed straight for Anubis.
It seems that Soonali momentarily forgets the manners Zaira has pretty much programmed in her brain because, as soon as she sees Sakitu and Kengee trying to avoid all the cubs, and Anubis barely missing them, the lioness lets out a cheerful giggle, and she gives the pair a slow nod as they come by, eyeing Kengee as he digs into the meal messily. "Way to go, buddy," She whispers, the voice is playful, with no real intent to really make fun of his eating habits but.. with part of his coat being pale, the blood stains are quite noticeable, you see. So, in order not to laugh again, Soonali distracts herself with the former King entretaining the children nearby. "Seems like it." She answers Demissle. Yep, her uncle is being..himself. The teenager stretches her forelegs until her ivory undersides are touching the ground, and she lets out a relaxed breath. Nothing better than a quiet evening like this.
Fayola shoots Kengee a look of disgust at his lack of manners, though she is (luckily) distracted by Aaith's arrival and busies herself with butting her head lightly against the other lioness in friendly greeting. "Go ahead 'n eat, m'dear. Surely this ruffian.." A glare is shot at Kengee. "..Will save you some of the choice bits instead of scarfing them down like some ill-mannered warthog." No, Fayola doesn't have anything against Kengee, really.. she's just being Fayola. Esiankiki chuckles as the three younger lionesses - Tamri, Mai and Esi' - all settle in for a lengthy grooming session to clean the blood stains off of one another. "Aw, give him a break Gramma.. Ken's still a growin' lad! Let him be messy!" The five cubs race ahead of Anubis, taking shelter beneath Sakitu and some by Demissle.. apparently thinking the King and former Queen will save them from the overgrown cub that is Annie. But, luckily for them, their saving grace is their dear Aunt Enz'. Racing after the cubs, Annie suddenly finds himself with a young lioness flying at him from just ahead and to his right. Skittering his hindpaws and kicking up a bunch of dust trying to stop, Annie rears slightly onto his hindpaws so that he catches Enz' against his chest.. and goes toppling over backwards with his forelegs locked around his daughter. "HELP! I'm being attacked by a monster!" The two male cubs come racing out.. not to save Anubis.. but to help Enzaudhi attack him. XD; "You get 'im, Auntie Enz'!" "Raaar! We getcha, G'ampa Annie!"
Yes that's right. Future king right here! As blood goes flying. At Soonali's comment though, the boy lifts his head to give her a bloody grin, "Hey... how can I protect the pride in the future if I don't -eat-?" he says, while puffing out his chest and just smirking in Fayola's general direction. However, the chiding from Sakitu draws a pinning of the ears. "Yes yes... but you're not king yet. And in the mean time, you'll behave yourself" the white lioness continues. Sakitu then eyetwitches at the gramma word.. agh.. she felt so old, whether they're refering to her or not. XD She then blinking as a group of cubs go hiding under her. ; "What do I look like... a shield?" she asks, peering down at them with a grin. Kengee just goes back to his sloppy eating now that all the old lionesses are distracted. XD
Aaith grins as she hears Fayola, guessing what can be seen by the others. She use to be able to see fuzzy forms but now her sight is pretty much gone. "Oh, its alright Fayola. I can still wrestle some food away from him if needs be." The elder offers with a amused tone before working on getting something to eat from the kill. Demissle sickers again at the hard time his son is getting, his really laughing with him not at him. "Better watch out Kengee..There all ganging up on you it seems." His attention turns to the cubs that come racing over to hide behind him and he blinks before erking faintly. "Hey.. I'm not a rock guys." His half expecting his father to come racing in and pounce on the cubs, miss them and then smack him into the ground. Though he catches sight of Enz getting hold of the other lion and snickers softly.
--Oh! Truth be told, Enzaudhi hadn't actually been meaning to /hit/ him, just surprise him and the cublets, but she can't stop in time. So it's a very bewildered adolescent who winds up toppling Anubis, and--oh no! His paws. They're /muddy/! Inspiration strikes all the same, though, and she grins. "I'm the /cleanliness monster/!" she shoots back, and that grin is turned on the two intrepid children who come running to help. "Whaddya say, kids? Should we vanquish him with the power of," dramatic pause, "/hygiene/?" --'Hygiene' spoken like some people might say 'napalm.' Never mind that the kids are as muddy as he is; children hate baths, so that ought to seem like a dangerous weapon!
"Cleanliness monster," Anubis echoes, his tone one of mock-horror. "Oh, no.. I'm doomed for sure!" A dirty paw is swung half-heartedly at his daughter's head, As the two male cubs bounce about excitedly, clearing /wanting/ to see their dear, dirty grandfather vanquished by their oh-so-powerful aunt and thus being traitorous little beasts, Anubis has to fight back laughter. "Oh, please, you Defenders of Cleanliness, spare my life! For I am CLEARLY not as dirty as our dear pridal heir, Kengee. Just look at him, over there covered in blood and bits of buffalo gut. He is obviously MUCH dirtier than I and.. you know.. blood stains! Spare me and take him in my place! I offer him freely to you!" Oh, the love of a grandfather for his grandson. XD The two male cubs glance at each other, grinning wickedly.. and then spin around and race at the Prince, clearing meaning to interupt his meal with their attack. XD Mai settles down alongside Soonali, offering her cousin a gentle nudge, and chuckles as one of her daughters points a paw at Kengee. "Yeah, dun' eat too much Unca' Ken' or else you growed up t'look like G'ampa Annie!" Poor Annie.. whose muscle has, indeed, melted into a bit more pudge in his later years. XD; Esiankiki sits next to Demissle and chuckles. "I dunno.. Kengee looks like he could still put on a lot and STILL not equal up to Annie.. or even Dem'." Hey.. is she calling Demissle FAT?! .. Maybe. XD
"Huh what?" Kengee blinks innocent from over the carcass of the buffalo. What's this about him being dirtier? And Sakitu smirks.. here she though she was the cleanliness monster of the pride.. but she's glad to share or pass on the title. XD The young prince though is soon overrun by boy cubs. "HEY!" "Grandpa, you traitor!" Kengee would shake a paw at him or something if he could. Kengee is knocked flat by the pair of boy cubs. o___o causing him to stare at Mai's daughter as she points his way and tells him he'll get fat if he keeps eating. Uncle Ken.. how amusing. XD The boy frowns, "Hey... I'm too good looking to get fat!" So there!
Demissle laughs as he hears his father talk about Kengee.. "Nice one.." There's a pause as his brought into it and peers at Esiankiki and smirks some while poking out at her with a forepaw. "Hey..What you trying to say?" He questions with a amused tone. Dem smirks and eyes his son playfully. "Don't make me come over there and sit on you so they can clean you." He offers with a grin. Aaith snickers as she listions to the others talking and lifts a forepaw to half clean at her maw some once eatting her fill, which isn't much these days. "Amusing what the young talk about and it Fayola?" The lioness questions with a amused tone.
With a gentle lick to Enzaudhi's cheek in a loving, fatherly fashion, Anubis rolls onto his stomach to watch the antics of the cubs with Kengee. At being called a traitor, Anubis only beams. "Come on, Ken! It's only a pair of midgets! If you can't take 'em, maybe they should be King!" He's only jesting, of course. Annie thinks his grandson is shaping up to be a fine King. "And just remember.. even the good looking ones gain a little pudge! Just lookit me!" Yes, Annie put on a bit of weight with age.. but heck, he's still as handsome as ever! As the two male cubs laugh and playfully attempt to wrestle with their older cousin/uncle thing, Annie lets his gaze drift over the rest of the pride.. while leaning gently into Enz' to keep the physical contact with his dear, youngest child. The female cubs all begin to giggle as Kengee protests the idea of getting fat - "At least girls dun' get fat! Lookit G'amma Sakie! She's still purdy!" "Yeah! Girls are better'n boys that way!" - and Esiankiki blinks innocently at Demissle, a small smile curving across her muzzle. "Say? Oh, Your Highness, I'm just saying that you look like you're starting to go the way of your father," She remarks, lifting a paw to poke him in the side. Mai and Tamri, overhearing the conversation, giggle, nodding in agreement with Esi'. They're not just ganging up on Kengee.. looks like they're ganging up on Demissle too! Fayola smirks slightly, leaning over to wash her tongue over some of Aaith's fur to initiate a friendly grooming session with her friend. "Huh. No kidding. Remember the good old days when meals were civilized affairs.. and not the circus this seems to be?" It is all said, despite the gruff voice, with plenty of affection. Fayola has loved her new pride since the day Nishati allowed her to join. Anubis grins, watching the gathering of the pride with amusement - and affection - in his eyes. At least his family ain't boring. XD

XD
