Well, yesterday's foray in the Mbaamwezi has left Ausikifa a little miffed and a little bloody, but overall he finds himself congradulating a well issued challenge. The still frazzled male lounges on his stomach in the scrub brush a long way from the Mbaamwezi border, a lone lioness by his side. Ausi' shifts his position, a deep rumbling purr rising up in him and he gently begins to wash the little gashes and cuts that Sekhmet recieved from joining him in the fight the other day. His tail tap-tap-taps the ground as he sets about his chore, the rumbling from his chest constant despite his ocassional pause to shake his wild mane from his face.
Sekhmet is a bit past being frazzled, hurt and tired she's bent a good part of the time sleeping once they finally stopped. Dreams, more like nightmares clouded her mind during it though. She can't believe what she just did, an there is no going back now that she knows. At the few touches of his tounge she tenses up, claws have gripping at the ground while her eyes open and she blinks a few times. Her gaze turns to peer at him, watching him a few moments before taking in a breath. "Thought I was dreaming.."
His ears rise up from the forest of his mane, his brows knitted in concern as he watches the lioness tense under his touch, though he continues to address her wounds to make sure that nothing bad happens to them. Ausi's purr diminishes slightly and becomes more like a dull rumbling, and the male shakes his head almost sadly, "No..." he murmurs, assuring, or not, Sekhment that none of it was a dream. "I am... sorry," comes his deep baritone a moment later, almost choked, pained, knowing what he caused for himself has also been put upon Sekhment, and he did not intend to do such a thing.
The lioness takes in a breath, wishing it was but knows it isn't. Her gaze drifts off and she peers off checking the area before leaning against him after a few moments. Sek's eyes close while she sighs. "Its nothing for you to feel sorry for.. I choose my path."
Despite her reassurance of her choice, Ausikifa still shakes his head slowly but as the lioness leans against him, he lifts his chin to let her lie against the fluff of his chest. For a while he is silent, letting the wind dance by and letting the sun shine down, before he peers from behind gold and black bangs, "Why did you choose this path?" There are many other questions on the male's mind, there are many things that have plagued him recently regaurding his father, but Ausi' keeps it to one thing for now.
Sekhmet closes her eyes just listioning to his heart beat, she's never been this close to another lion who wasn't trying to kill her, or she them. Her tail lashes some, nervously as she lays there. She half expects to open her eyes and see Zira staring down at her, ready to rip her throat her. "Why?.. Because your the only lion that ever payed attention to me in that so called pride.. The only one that seemed to care." Sek offers softly, so perhaps over time she feel for him as well but she doesn't say that at the moment. "You didn't deserve to die because of everthing that happened."
He can't help but snort as Sekhmet speaks of said "pride," and his irritation shows in the slow sneer that works its way onto his muzzle, but after a moment Ausikifa supresses his seething hatred for Zira and the Mbaamwezi. He knows, though, that should he wake with Zira staring him down, he would kill her in an instant. With that thought to pacify him, he flicks his ears at Sekhmet's words and tilts his head, "I do care," he churls, but leaves the mushy stuff at that. "You were brave to help me then. I will keep Zira and her ilk from you."
Sek takes in a breath and opens her eyes to peer at you. "Nice to know someone does.." She offers softly, no one ever really cared about her other then her mother and that didn't last long. "I know how to defend myself from Zira and her dear family.. You just make sure to watch your back.. She wants you dead for sure now."
"I will not give her what she wants," Ausikifa murmurs, a grin turning his muzzle upwards and a chuckle even slips from him. He knows that Zira wants his head on a pole outside the pridal cavern, but she's going to be out of luck on that one. The lion offers a brief smile to Sekhmet, nuzzling her shoulder a moment before taking time to glance about their surroundings. It's been quiet, yes, but two lions who are wanted dead should really keep a look out. "We will watch our backs."
Sek smiles some and nods a bit while her maw twitches and her forepaws stretch, a faint grunt escaping her at the movement. Muscles sore and wounds somewhat tender still. "I'm sorry about your father Ausi.. I.. had no idea what happeend.."
Ausi' takes a long, slow breath and his eyes flit up to the skies for a long while after Sekhmet mentions his father, though he harbours no malice towards her. She didn't do it, after all. The lion taps his tail on the ground and rolls his shoulders back in a light shrug, "It's not your fault," he murmurs, taking a moment to tend to her wounds again before issuing a quiet sigh, "It's alright."
Sekhmet watches him a few moments and leans up to nose at your cheek slightly. "Might not be my fault.. But I'm still sorry." Her ears lower some and she presses her head to your chest, eyes closing. She didn't really know his father so isn't sure why she feels like she owes him anything. Maybe because of how it happened.
Auskifa lets his eyes close, a long sigh falling from his muzzle as he feels the ache of yesterday's fighting and the fatigue of being constantly on the look out for Mbaamwezi guards catches up with him. His deep purr returns as he feels Sekhmet against his cheek, and he settles himself more comfortably on the ground. Ausi' gives her a slight nod and a smile, letting her lean against his chest as he rests his chin across her back. "It's alright," he reassures, "but for now, you should rest." That said, he nuzzles the lioness' back with his chin and waits for a hopefully calm sleep to take them both.
