Ausi' being his annoying self..
Ah, the life of being a male lion. Since Ausi' fancies himself more of an assassin assistant to her father rather than a guard for the Mbaamwezi, the adolescent currently lounges on a relatively flat rock outside the caverns, his stomach turned to the sky to absorb the sun as it makes its way slowly down the horizon. His floofiness is paramount, the wind ruffling his unruly mane as he scratches a paw at his chest. A long, loud yawn falls from his muzzle, and his eyes squint open to peer lazily about the lands. Ah, life is good.
Life /is/ good- especially when you have ones below you, such as the lazing male, to measure up against. In perfect contrast to him, Liani is quite firmly of the belief that activity accomplishes far more than lying on your back; she wades in the shallows with careful but far from silent footsteps though her gaze refuses to leave him. Borne from soft, lapping waves rather than gusts of wind, the lioness' coat is fast becoming equally messed.
Zzrrt *snort* Wha- .. ? Ausi's ears flicker from within his tangled mass of mane, one of his back legs kicking out and streaching as he wakes from his dozing state. Sleepy eyes train towards the lapping water, and the lioness emerging from them... Wait, what? o.o; Blinking, Ausikifa tries to focus his gaze towards the distant female, slowly rolling himself to his side and letting his chin hang over the edge of his perch. Snort. Bah. Tapping his tail tuft on the stone, the adolescent watches the Mbaamwezi huntress with a kind of unamused, sordid eye.
Liani halts, cocks her head with a small smirk and then alters her course to approach him. "Quite comfy?" she asks lightly, her tone as pronounced as her pridelander like features would lead many to expect- lacking any harshness or hiss. Her smile is easy though cocky, the latter only accentuated by a raised eyebrow and lazy flick of her tail as she comes to rest in front of him.
The male's lip curls in a kind of sardonic, twisted little smile.. or sneer, it's difficult to tell, and continues to watch the lioness as she closes the distance between them. He's seen her before.. one of the huntress' of the place, but though Ausikifa has made himself at home in these lands, he hasn't made pleasantries with much of the pride. He takes a moment to shake his head, clearing his dark gaze of his mane, before settling himself again. "Gone fishin'?" Ausi' drawls back, licking his snarky muzzle.
Liani may be soaked to her underbelly but that's hardly anything new to those who know her. "I was wandering," she corrects him simply, her own smile of equal depth and unreadable meaning, "Instead of laying about and getting fat." the jibe comes with something of a wink (given in such a way that it's almost impossible to tell whether she did or not-- Liani's like that).
Finally, a laugh falls from Ausikifa's muzzle and the big male rolls off his flat rock and lands squarely upon his paws, arching his back towards the sky and digging his claws into the sand in a hearty streach. Shaking his pelt out, and puffing some of the mane from his eyes, the male saunters around the beach with his head and tail held high. "Who's fat?" He muses, preening himself in a rather ridiculous manner, but eyeing the female with a kind of dangerous seriousness. "It's power, my little lioness. For your protection, eh?"
"I could take better care of myself," Liani's response comes well practiced and without a moment's hesitation- yet she follows close to his side. Her walk is quite clearly that of a hunter, quiet and fluid without falter, "Maybe /I/," she suggests with a grin as she crosses in front, "Should look out for /you/?". Apparently even the most condescending of cats have fun now and then, even if it is through teasing.
A snort is his first reply, though it is followed by a low chuckle as the two lions fall into stride, and Ausikifa ambles his way back to the rocks. He settles himself down upon his haunches, running a claw paw through his chest fur, "Hardly, little huntress.. You look out for dinner, eh?" He tosess Liani a half-lidded wink, curling his tail around his paws and dropping another monstrous yawn. For a moment, Ausi' is silent as he eyes the female, noting to himself that he probably should've gotten to known this one much earlier. At least she seems to be able to handle his kind of 'humor' ... at least, so far.
Liani remains standing in profile, presenting a sleekness that testifies to her refusal to 'lay around and get fat'. "Little?" she repeats with a raised eyebrow, all in 'good' humor, "There are no doubt undersized parts on your half as well."- there's no venom where she would usually spit it, just playful goading accompanied by another flick of her tail.
Perk. Ausikifa's brow lifts slightly, eyeing Lia' and issuing an indignant snort in her direction. "Hardly," he purrs, his voice intercut with a deep chest rumble that doesn't quite reach growl status, "but let me know when you'd like to test that theory." Small, huh? Well, well, well, she should learn not to make personal remarks about his, um, lionhood. He gives her a long, hard look, flicking his ears in the silence and wonderinf is he should bother asking her name.
"See, the interesting this there is that I could take that as an offer," The huntress observes offhandedly, her smirk turning from him to the water, "Do you swim?". Liani manages to remain largely secretive as to what on earth she's getting at other than by taking her words at face value; her body language tells little other than the fact she's at ease here.
Ausi's head tilts slightly, and careful observation might determine that the male seems to be mildly intruiged with the lioness' response, but the smaller more sensible part of his brain warns him that female's are most dangerous when they smile. Hmm. The rumble in his chest grows, something akin to a purr or a thoughful 'hum,' and Ausi' briefly flicks his dark eyes to the water. "Offer might stand.. and no, I don't tend to swim unless I can get a free groom afterward.. the water does a mess on my kind of beauty," he snarks, tossing his wild golden and black mane into the breeze. Mwaha.
Liani looks back, "It can get /worse/? Grief...," she grins and backs her way towards the divide over which water encroaches upon the territory of sand. "I never said I wouldn't groom after- though I'm not about to promise if you truly will come out looking less handsome," she remarks softly over her shoulder, eyes fixed on the gentle lapping of nearby waves. Well it's boring spending the afternoon alone.
"Nothing could make me any less handsome, lioness," Ausi' quietly muses, shooting his response over Liani's body as she meanders her way down to the water. Tilting his head, he watches her for a while, amused that in all of this wacked out pride she seems to be one of the few grounded lioness' (well, grounded for /him/) and quietly laughs to himself. That done, he rises and plods his lazy male-butt way across the soft sands, looking at the water less than amicably, "You know, the sun is so much more comfortable."
Liani steps out paw-deep without so much as a flinch in response to the reminder of its slight chill, "I'm not touching you out in the sun," she tells him easily without meeting his eyes again. She wades a little deeper.
He rolls his eyes slightly, not liking the feeling of the tide licking at the edges of his toes, and wondering why on earth a single lioness woke him up and is dragging him into the water. Well, psychologically, not physically. Part of Ausi's brain warns him that lioness' are evil, and that he'll probably drown, but an idle shrug of his shoulders indicates that the lion doesn't have anything better to do. So, his paws slowly wade into the shallows, his leg muscles twitching at the cold, his tail tuft flinging droplets from side to side as it sways. "Like the water, huh?"
Liani turns and instantly brushes her cheek lightly against his, a soft, fluttering purr blending the movement to a silky finish. For all the affection that seems to show- she's grinning rather than going all starry eyed, "Lots; it's comfortable in here too."
The sort've half-nuzzle catches Ausi' off guard, and he takes a step back, steadying himself in the shallow waves. His tail thrashes through the water, his eyes taking in the odd playful manner that the lioness he hardly knows now takes on. While they're not children, they're not particularly old enough for anything besides some adolescent fun, and something tells Ausikifa that Liani's definately not in heat. His keen, male senses catch the glint in her eyes, but a thin smile edges across his muzzle, "Comfortable, eh, darlin'?" Ausi' purrs deeply, rubbing his cheek along her side until his whole body lines up with hers, "Well.. let's see!" The male lunges with his forepaws wide, attempting to grab the female around the neck and pull her down into the shallows. If he's getting soaked, damned if he isn't going to get her, too.
Liani lets out a strangled yelp amid laughter she'd be ashamed to admit to, falling over and-- shock horror-- giving in to the urge to play. Wrestle, squirm, tug, little-growl! The young lioness struggles with the much larger lion in what she knows is most likely going to be a losing battle; needless to say that in the process her usually strangely soft coat gets thoroughly soaked and, instead, decides to cling to her. "Oh, that's /it/," she manages fighting words, stupidly confident for one finding herself so totally outmatched in strength.
Having succesfully splashed down into the shallows, his mane now wholly soaked and slicked down his body along with the rest of his pelt, Ausi' gives a rolling, rumbling growl-purr-thing and bats at the water, flinging it in the lioness' direction. "Bah," he snorts, heaving his water-logged self out of the waves to stand on all fours again, not bothering to shake away the water since he knows how awfully funny he'd look, "You were going t'do it anyway, sweet, admit it."
Liani doesn't admit it. "No grooming for /you/," she pouts and gets back up, heading for sand a bit from his side. Ausi'd look funny if he shook whereas Liani would probably benefit from it; the smoothing down of her coat has her veritably shining.
"Oh?" he purrs, part of his voice sounding hurt as he gives a subtle pout but part of his voice sounding rather.. unnerving. The lion splashes after the huntress, gnawing at her tail like an overgrown cub and trying to bring her down again, although this time rather questionably. Ausi' gently tries to gnaw at her haunches, attempting to grip her sides like an older male might, but letting go soon afterwards and catching up to nip at her neck, "Don't be so sour, sweet."
Liani doesn't know quite how to react, the grip for one drawing a definite pause for consideration by the female. It passes. "I'm not /sour/- I don't get sour after letting people win," she retorts, dancing out of the way of any further trip attempts, "You're the one who's sour about getting no grooming..."
Snort. Lifting his head high, despite his mane being ridiculously heavy with water, and makes his way dogedly towards his previous perch. Ausi' does, however, shake out his paws like a big house cat after getting a much unwanted bath, and ambles up to his flat, warm rock. He peers through the tangle of fur at Liani, probably pretty comical dripping huge droplets of water onto the sand, "Who's upset, sweetling? Not me, hardly," he murrs, squishing a large paw to his chest and whipping drops from his tail.
Liani hesitates, steps, falters and then concedes. The huntress joins him and brushes her muzzle along his neck- messed mane or no, "Only because you'd sulk otherwise," she insists and then sets about brushing the thick fur there straight with paws and tongue.
Ah, life is good. A grin slides its way onto his muzzle, but less mischievous and more satisfied.. for once, Ausi' has found someone who doesn't automatically smack him across the face because of his rather.. unique attitude. An unconsciouss purr rises in his throat as he lifts his chin, letting the lioness do all the work to get the stupid water from his mane. It's good to be a lazy butt male sometimes. "I don't pout, little huntress." He quiets himself for a while, running his claws through some of his fur to squish out some more water, before flicking her ears in a curious thought. "Shall I call you my darlin' little huntress, or does my sweet have a name, mm?" Yeah, most girls would've snuffed him off long ago for his little habit of name dropping, but either Liani is hiding it very well, or she doesn't care."
Liani sits, satisfied that she's fulfilled her side of the implied bargain, "Liani, and drop the 'my's," she answers with a firm nudge at his cheek, "I'm /far/ from it.". Her expression hints at either hesitation of awkwardness for all of a second before the easy grin is once again adopted and whatever she was considering is lost to the wind-- the wind which continues to do a far better job of drying than her tongue.
"Oh.. he calls all the lioneses his.." Sekhmet offers as she makes her way out of the cave, tail lashing as he guard slash warrior eyes the lion with a smirk. Seems some how his grown some on her. Now the world shall end and all that jazz. "Though his rather harmless, just ignore him."
Mildly dissatisfied with the short groom after getting wholly soaked in the shallows, Ausikifa decides to finally shake the excess from his mane. With bits and pieces sticking out here and there, the male shoots Liani a sleek grin. "Very well, Liani, my sweet," punctuating his last pet name to see just how far he can push her patience.. just like everyone else x.x; The boy's about to settle himself down on his rock in the last rays of the sun, but his ears catch an all too familiar voice and his attention turns to the caves. His smile widens into a sardonic, twisty thing, and a gives a glance towards his manicurist before hoping down to cut off Sekh's path, "But my darling Sekhmet, you've missed your beauty sleep and woken on the wrong side of the cave, yes? Harmless? Hardly, sweetling."
Company? Liani /so/ wasn't socializing. Hurrying to make that as clear as possible, she hops down off the rock and heads out to... anywhere, really, "I should get hunting."
Sekhmet lifts her head to peer back at the lion and chuckles. "You look like a puffer fish. Been standing in the wind again?" She questions with a sly grin and lifts a forepaw to try and mess up his mane some. A slight glance is offered towards Liani and she tilts her head while her maw twitches. "There you go scaring off another one it seems my dear fluffy lion."
A quiet chuckle follows Liani's swift retreat, but Ausikifa doesn't dwell on that long since he's got another pawful standing right in front of him. His grin widens, and though he makes no move to remove Sekh's paw from his mane, he does chomp his teeth in her directions. "Careful, sweetling, or I'll drag you down into the water, too. Besides," he purrs, sideling up next to Sekh' and attempting to lean along the length of her and chomp playfully at her neck and shoulders, "You haven't left yet, and if you can stick around me, any lioness can, my darling."
He does have a point.. Strange how things like that work out an't it? Sekhmet snorts a bit and rumbles faintly at the chomping to her neck and shoulders, which for a moment she leans up against before sliding forward and settling on her haunches. "I'd like to see you try and drag me to that water. You might be surprized." The lioness offers with a few clicks of her teeth. "An you have a point.. Still not to sure why I stick around you." This offered while she lifts her head and eyes him faintly.
Ausi' offers the lioness a snicker, still pawing at her like a tiny cub.. or just to be annoying. His dark gaze remains solely on Sekhmet, his grin remaining despite still being soaked from his brief romp in the shallows, and he nips gently at her ears before she slides down to the sand. "Now, now, now," the adolescent purrs, pacing around the lioness in the sand and bumping himself against her shoulder before settling down himself, "Admit it, little Sekhmet, you know why."
Sekhmet grunts faintly at the pawing and half bats back at him a few times to try and stop him. Annoying little brat.. This what she's thinking while she smirks and eyeing him. "Oh I do huh?" She questions while half nipping back at his side and then haunch as he passes her before settling down. "I dono, maybe you could tell me because we might be thinking different things here."
Ausikifa rolls lazily to his side, still pawing at the lioness beside him and peering upside down at her, wrinkling his white diamond nose. "Because," he rumbles, idly and upsidedownedly grooming at her chest fluff, "deep down inside," again he pauses and takes a moment to act like a big kitten, "you know you love the attention." He snickers, hauling himself to his stomach again and poking her shoulder with his nose. "Besides, I'm cute and you know it."
Sekhmet eyes him curiously as he goes about grooming at her chest and she huffs some. "I suppose I do enjoy the attention." She offers with a faint tone while lifting her head up and glancing off as if she never said it. Truthfully she's not use to attention, the pride she came from thought nothing about give anyone any type of attention. Other then the lion who was her own father gaze it when he wanted to. She chuffs at the cute part and glances back at him. "I think you must have went and swallowed salt water or something my dear lion."
Ausikifa answers with a mild chuff of his own, but still grooms the lioness in silence for a while before eventually he stops to simply stare at her. Not in a creepy way, but just.. looking. Dare it be said, concerned? He doesn't know her that well, or anyone else outside his immediate family to be honest, but the lioness intruiges him. Besides, their first heated, teeth baring introduction isn't one he's likely to forget anytime soon. Ausi' shakes his mane once more, clearing his eyes of it, before nosing at her cheek. "And if I did?" A purr subconsciously rises in his chest, and the lazy lion leans against his personal sofa, "It's not that bad, is it?" No, not swallowing salt water. The attention.
Sekhmet eyes close and her eyes lower as she seems to relax, now hell shall freeze over for she never really relaxes mind you. Even in her sleep she still looks as if she could spring awake and do some harm. When the grooming stops her eyes open slightly and she blinks as she catches him staring at her. Eh.. Alright that's sorta strange. She glances around a moment, a ear flicking forward and she then peers back at him seeing that indeed he was looking at her. At the question she says nothing, a twitch of her maw seen and she glances off once more. "I suppose its not that bad. One must just has to get use to it.. I suppose." Her tail lashes a few times and she starts to say something else but stops. She hasn't opened up to anyone in this pride and she'll be damnded if she does now.
A little bit of cub behavior sparks in Ausi' again, and he gnaws at Sekh's ear gently after she go quiet again. He knows he's tolerated by her, but for all his arrogant omnipotence, even Ausi' isn't wholly sure why. In fact, he may not care why just as long as he's allowed. The male noses under her chin, his ears rising curiously from the forest of his mane and he tilts his head questioningly. He considers not asking the question on his mind, but then realizes he'd never get the answer if he didn't. "What's the matter, Sekhmet?" he wonders quietly, dropping his playful pretense and his use of the possesive.
Sekhmet grunts some at the ear gawn and pulls her head back while a forepaw gets pushed to his shoulder to try and keep him free of her ears. Her attention is back on him and she smirks while half swatting at his maw with the other forepaw. A ear perks at the question, well there goes the mood. "Nothing's the matter, what you ask that for?"
Rolling his shoulders and then proceeding to nip at her paw, Ausi' shakes his head, "Just checking, my sweet," he grins, falling back into his previous state partially on purpose, realizing that perhaps Sekhmet isn't ready to talk to him just yet. He doesn't mind. The male then proceedes to swipe at the lioness' paws, attempting to drag them into the mess that is his mane and gnaw playfully on her forelegs.
Sekhmet huffs a bit at the sweet talk, though deep down she sorta likes it. No she's not ready to talk, to him or anyone else. If she was to tell someone elsein the pride for all they know they would think her weak, and she's still not fully sure what to think of Ausikifa. A erk escapes her as she's dragged closer and her hindpaws push into the sand while she stop him. She nip at his ears as he goes about gawning at her forelegs and does her best not to laugh.
Bwahahahaa, a reaction! One that's not a slap across the face, too! Mwahaha! Ausikifa snickers some, pleased with what little reaction he drew from the lioness, and continues to attack her paws. His ears attempt to disappear deep into his mane, but Sekhment is fast enough to catch him despite his dodge attempts. The lion rumbles playfully, flopping down to his stomach and snuggling himself up against her. He lifts a paw and grapples behind Sekhmet's neck, snuffling and snuggling until he's made himself quite comfortable. A part of him hopes that she'll do the same and he can drift off to sleep with a rather cozy blanket with him, too, but another part half expects to get a paw in the face. Ah, well. "Good, sweet night, my Sekhmet," he churrs, and quietly drifts to sleep.
Sekhmet gurgles faintly as a laugh tries to escapes her, though she refuses to let it! Her laugh, that's not posible of course. She holds onto his ear, given it a few tugs in fact until he goes about snuggling up against her and being, well..cute.. Sek blinks some as she peers at him, for a few moments rather unsure what to do. A paw lifts and it really looks like she's about to smack him though she doesn't. Said paw settles close to him while she just presses back, her head settling on his neck even. "Night.." The lioness offers softly, tone sounding almost unsure.
