[Tyne] Tyne Rock Base
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's evening in Tyne, which for Kamau usually means food, and maybe a bath if he can't get out of it. But this particular evening sees him just coming out of the forest, looking a little out of breath and VERY grumpy. He drags his paws a little and has the sort of frown that, if his mother saw it, would probably make some comment about how his face might get stuck that way forever and wouldn't that just be a shame? He heads for the shade of the tree and sits down in a huff, casting his unhappy face towards the jungle he's just come from.
Another is making his way towards the rock base after a afternoon of wandering. Oneado yawns while glancing around before catching sight of his brother. Grinning he pauses and slinks back into the grasses slowly following after him.. Creeeply.
She's been a hard one to come by lately, the white child known to the locals as Sunny. She hasn't been seen around since the incident with the hippos, where she'd fled the scene in a panic when the large bull got out of the water to charge them. And thus the reason Sundali has been in hiding. She's always put forth an air of bravado and she acts about as fearless as they come.. btu she ran. Right in front of all the others, she turned tail and ran. And boy, has it been eating at her soul. Sunny was quite liking all the cubs here. They were fun to play with. But now... now she'll have to go find NEW friends who think she's big and brave and strong. Friends who won't think she's just a wuss. The girl has wandered Tyne all this time, but has yet to actually venture away. Perhaps... perhaps tonight that will change. With a thousand and one thoughts flying through her head, Sunny doesn't realize that her aimless wandering has brought her, not to the Tyne border, but closer to the heart of the lands instead.
Kamau continues to glare at the jungle for a moment, as if silently punishing it with his angry eyes... or something equally dramatic. He soon gets bored with that though and turns back around, letting himself collapse on his face - also quite melodramatically, even with a small swirl of dust. He is completely unaware of his brother creeping around, far too preoccupied with pouting at the moment, and of course doesn't know Sunny is around either. If he did he might not be pouting -quite- so much, but such is life, and he is.
Onaedo pauses as he hears his brother and lifts his head to peers out before suddenly runs forward to try and pounce upon his pouting brother. His missed sunny as well, specially after he was /chased/ by he darn hippos thanks to a certain cousin for teasing them.. He nearly got killed that day under a few tons of hippo. "Gona Get you!" He calls out with a half laugh.
Sundali is startled out of her reverie by a sudden noise and flurry of movement. Pausing in her step, the girl blinks in the direction of the brothers, feeling a weight lift off her chest for the briefest of moments, ears perking and the corners of her mouth twitching into a grin. But it fades just as quickly, her ears fall back and the weight returns. She can't be friends with them anymore if they think she's a big liar and a scaredy cat. Kamau wasn't there.. she could probably get away with him, but Onaedo.. and Kale'Kizuka.. they would know. Swallowing heavily, Sundali begins to move again. Slowly does she retreat backward, trying to vanish into the jungle unseen. Clearly, escape is her only option at this point.
Kamau lifts his face from the dirt in time to see his brother charging at him, but not with enough time to try and avoid the inevitable pounce. "Ack!" he shouts, trying to gather his legs underneath him before his brother gets to him. "Aww, I was gettin' good at pouncin' and stuffs too! Elim' was helpin' me, an- an-, I bet I could even pounce Sunny 'r somethin' now!" He decides to give into the pounce, sprawling back on the ground and going back to pouting. Having his brother standing on his back or anything isn't too bad, after all. He's actually pretty used to it, being in a litter of five and all.
Scared? Hell Oneado nearly lost his lunch when the hippos came charging, he doesn't care that Sundali ran off. The boy huffs while just sitting on his brother smirking before hopping off. "Naw you couldn't.. Sunny is the bestest pouncer ever. I don't think even Eli could stop her." He states with a stiff nod while dropping down to his haunches, tail lashing about. "hey.. Have you seen Sunny.. any?"
Sundali slinks back until she reaches a large jungle plant whose wide, waxy green leaves are big enoug to hide behind. But the girl doesn't turn and flee right away. She moves to, her body half-turned south and one forepaw lifted, but she stops when she hears her own name being spoken. Curious, Sunny peeks back around the leaf, ears straining forward to listen in on the conversation between the two brothers. If blushing were capable of being indicated on fur, no doubt Sunny's pale features would be turning shades of pink about now. Bestest pouncer ever? Her head lifts just slightly higher. Well of course she is! But she ducks back down when Onaedo inquires as to her whereabouts.
"Better 'n Elim'?" Kamau asks, rolling onto his back to look at his brother upside down. "I dunno... Elim' is like, like... the besterest. He'd just be like, raarharh! an' wouldn' even need to pounce!" His immitation of Elim' roaring is a little pathetic, but he does his best. It also cheers him up a little - that is, until Ona mentions Sunny not being around. Then he's back to his grumpy face. "Nooo... I was in the jungle an' hoped I'd see 'er, but all I saw was this REALLY annoying fatty cub who was all 'I pounce bestester!' an' I said 'nuh-uh yer dumb dumby face I only pounce with good pouncers like Sunny an' my brothers!' an' then I walked away but he tried to FOLLOW he was so annoying!" After telling his story he takes a deep breath and then shakes his head. "So no, I haven' seen 'er in ever... you don' think she left us do ya?"
Onaedo ohs some and blinks after a moment. "What annoying cub? We got another one to deal with?" Great.. His ears twitch while a forepaw lifts to scratch at his neck. "I dono.. Just hope she's alright. Haven't seen her since I had to run for my life thanks to that stupid cousin of ares teasing the hippos."
Sundali's features twist into a slight frown. Puh! Just who is this /Elim/? Maybe she'll have to show him a thing or three before she goes. Huff. The young white lioness continues to listen from her hiding spot, feeling a slight pang of regret as the two brothers talk. Gee, dot hey really miss her? Even though she was all /scared/ and stuff? Sunny's frown deepens. What's wrong with them?! She's supposed to be big and brave and strong and she /wasn't/. Isn't that grounds for, like, instant non-friendship-ness?
"Ev'n MORE annoying than Kale!" Kamau proclaims. "Said 'is name was Kione or Myone or Dumby-face or somethin'." Okay, so maybe it wasn't anything close to Dumby-face, but Kamau hasn't entirely learned that name-calling is bad yet. After all, 'Runt-Monster' seems to have stuck, even after Uko' told him not to call Kale' that. He sighs and looks down at his paws. "She's gotta be alright. I don't want her to be a star." He's also fairly recently learned that whole death thing... "An' I don't want her to go away forever either. You don't think she's found new friends do you?"
Onaedo sticks his tounge out at the thought. "More annoying than kale.. that is scarey.." He mumbles and lifts his head humming. A glance is offered up to the sky, his ears lowering at the thought. "Guess she would be with dad then if she was huh?" He questions with a sigh before blinking. "I hope not.. I mean.. Where the bestest friends she could ever /HAVE/.."
Now ain't that just the sweetest thing? Sundali would probably be crying about now if she were the sort of girl who, you know, cries. But as it is, her heart is suddenly full to bursting with some emotion that she wouldn't be able to place a name to if she tried. The thought that they may think less of her for running from the charging hippo instead of wrestling it to the ground like she brags she can do is pushed momentarily from her mind as the girl pushes herself up and begins to meander towards the two boys. And the meander quickly becomes a run. Which quickly becomes a leap, slightly longer than average legs propelling her both up and forward as she gives a cry of "DEATH COMES FROM SKY!" All with a big huge grin plastered on her pale face.
Kamau joins his brother in looking to the sky. "I guess... I don't want her to just watch over us though, I want to be able to play with her. She can't play if she's busy bein' a star an' all." He nods his agreement, adding, "EVER have... doesn't get any better'n us." His thoughts are interrupted when suddenly he spots a white blur of a thing from the corner of his eye, and he's struck with the breif notion that maybe stars -can- pounce when suddenly he realizes that that's no star and gets pounced for the second time that day! "Ackaieesunny?!"
Onaedo ears twitch while he thinks. "Wish dad was here to.. Don't want him watching us either." The boy offers softly. A half yawn escapes him while he flops down to his belly, ears perking an he tilts his head to the side at the movement. "Hey.." This is all he get's said before he is half caught by the pounce as well! "Sunny!!" The boy calls out happly while wiggling about to get back up.
Sundali crashes into the pair with a laugh, her momentum then carrying her onward a few rolls where she lands on her back with a soft 'thud'. Giggling, Sunny tilts her head back so she can view Onaedo and Kamau, the two briefly upside down until she rolls onto her stomach, folding one forepaw over the other. "Hi, guys!" She greets brightly, giving them a wide grin. "Long time, no see, huh?"
Kamau jumps up as soon as Sunny is off of him and practically frolicks over to his friend. "Where have you been?!" he asks before trying to half-pounce her - more of a 'sprawl over her' sort of attempt. "We were jus' talkin' 'bout you too! We thought you might be a star an', an' that'd be no fun!" He looks over to Ona and beams, his previous grumpy self completely turned around now that he has his brother -and- Sunny! Kind of cheesy, but he doesn't mind.
Onaedo gives himself a shake while standing and follows afer Kamau to Sundali's side, where he bats out at her. "Did you hear us talking bout you?.. Or was your ears burning?" Something his heard the adults talking about. "You can't ever be a star.. cause they would just be sad!.. And ya, where did you /go/??"
Sundali grins, lightly batting her paws at each boy. Her expression becomes bemused at the mention of being a star. "Star?" She echoes, glancing skyward. "Why would I be a star?" A paw is lifted and waved at the heavens, as if trying to touch the pinpoints of light decorating the blue-black backdrop of night sky. "Why would I wanna /be/ a star? Looks like it'd be dull, jus' sittin' there and bein' all twinkley." Her gaze slips between the two at the questions of her whereabouts. "Oh, you know," She says, shrugging her shoulders casually. "Been playin' pouncin' games with buffalo. But as it turns out, buffalo dun' like to lose at pouncin'.. so they got kinda grumpy and it got kinda boring. So I came back t'see you guys. 'Cause you guys are much more fun. And not as grumpy!"
Kamau rolls off Sunny as he's batted at and just lays nearby, looking between her and Ona. "That's what happened when our dad went away, but he went because he got really sick." He glances back up to the sky then, and adds, "I don't think it would be much fun bein' a star... although I guess it's nice that our dad is still watching over us? He was King though, I think it'd be way more fun if he was still King and not a star." He hasn't entirely grasped what the 'watching over us' thing means, but it sounded nice when Elim' and Aitan said it. Looking back to Sunny, he starts grinning again. "Buffalo can't be nearly as much fun as us! You won't go away again, will you?"
Onaedo blinks and nods to what Kamau says. "Ya.. We don't want to you be a star like him. More fun to stay here and pounce then be a star after all." He snuffles some and glances back to Sunfali, making a face. "Just like them hippos hum?"
Sundali doesn't know what a King is, nor why their dad would be a star. Her mother, overworked with 'eleventy four' cubs, just never took the time to explain such things to her daughter. Or any of her children, most likely. So Sunny's features twist into faint confusion at the explanation, but she lets it all slide for now. But, when questioned as to whether she'll remain or not, Sundali hesitates. And even moreso when Onaedo brings up the hippos. For a moment, she squirms with embarrassment. THE subject has come up. Those darn hippos that made a scaredy cat out of her. "Mm," Is her response. "'Cept buffalos are.. y'know.. buffalo-y-er."
Kamau gets quiet and looks between his friends in confusion. How are buffalos like hippos? Why does his brother have a funny-looking face? What, exactly, are the characteristics of something 'buffalo-y-er'? He doesn't actually ask any of these things, instead just hoping that they'd be answered soon enough. Also, that Sunny would tell him she'd never ever leave again, even for buffalos.
