Location: [Tyne] Jungle Clearing
Characters Involved:
Tisea, Retired Queen of Tyne
Kamau, Lord/Heir of Tyne
Summary: A mother gives her son from motherly advice and caution.
It's morning in Tyne, but Kamau has been up since right before sunrise. He's... well, he's /avoiding/ Elimnyama, and the best way to avoid someone in his mind is to stay away from the place they live. But obviously the young lord is in no condition to be hanging out by himself outside of Tyne for no reason, even if his wounds /are/ healing quite nicely. At the moment, he's slinking off towards the mountains, keeping his head low and ears back as evidence of his awful mood. And despite his injuries healing, he's still favoring one paw as he walks. That Xin sure did pull a number on it, but it could be so much worse. He hasn't been complaining about it any either, though that COULD be because he's just been avoiding everyone that isn't Onaedo. Though who knows, maybe he's just... busy these days?
Well someone was looking for him, someone who had left him alone and let him roam and frolick as he pleased, someone who expected him to stay out of trouble. Steady paws carry a very stern looking elder in the direction of her sons scent, one she could pick up quite easily; he is after all /her/ baby. Honey green eyes pick up where her nose leaves off as Tisea spys the lion in the distance. She notes quickly how he's grown and how he resembles his father in certain ways. A soft sigh escapes her at the memory of her Fuadi but she pushes onwards. Gaze flicks over each individual wound and the favoured paw before she sets her jaw, tail curling up and head lifting. "I leave you alone for one minute.." she jests. She comes to a halt as she eyes Kamau, a motherly smile spreading across her maw. "Always getting into some kind of trouble aren't you child? Get over here, I need to muss your mane up." She may be irritated but she loves her babies. <3
Kamau stops dead at the familiar voice of his mother. No matter how much he's grown or how long it's been since he's even seen the lioness, he can't forget /her/ voice. And still, his eyes widen in surprise as he turns his head towards her, soon followed by the rest of his body, and his dull eyes light up. "Mom!" He does go to step closer to the elderly lioness, but not close enough for her to mess up his mane. He just got that! He needs it for things! Don't break it already! "Trouble? I didn't /get/ myself into this trouble, mom. We were ambushed. Waset's the one who sent me in the first place too, it's not like I was irresponsibly taking a random day-trip to Kivuli."
The lioness scoffs, "Hush boy, your mangled and deciding to go out again? I don't think so, even if I have to find vines and hog-tie you down myself." Tisea closes the distance between her and her son and noses him affectionately. "Kamau, I know your grown and I know Waset sent you but you have to be careful. Your this prides future child, it isn't fun and games anymore." The lioness settles back on her haunches and looks him over slowly before smiling, "You remind me of your father.. so head strong and stubborn. You have the potential to be a wonderful King Kamau, but you have to keep your head on straight." Tisea frowns, "Or I'll be forced to give you a good licking, and I don't mean a bath. Your not too big for me to spank your rear if I have to," she winks.
Kamau's initial excitement at seeing his mother again fades as he listens to what she has to say. His expression is instead replaced with a hard-set frown, stubbornly willing anyone to just /try/ and make him not be upset about this. "I do have potential to be a wonderful King. But what sort of King am I expected to be if I can't even save /one/ lioness. My /best friend/ at that! How am I supposed to protect an entire pride if I can't even protect Sundali?" Along with the stubbornness, there's a certain sense of urgency to his voice as well. "I /can't/ leave her to those awful rogues. If I do, well then... then I don't even want to be king, if that's the sort of king I'll be!"
Tisea watches him quietly before she puts a paw on his, "Kamau.. I know your scared. But if your supposed to be King.. you have to think of your pride as a whole.. If something happens to you..." she faulters to catch her words before she frowns painfully, "Don't you think I wanted to run out and find your father?" she questions softly. "Kamau I'm not berrating you I'm really not. I'm just begging you be more careful... your one of the last things I have left of Fuadi.." she murmurs. Tisea smiles gently, "Your attitude right now is extremely Kingly.. and... be kind to Elim'... he's extremely stressed. Waset's... dying Kamau."
As soon as Tisea's paw touches his, Kamau drops his bad boy angry stubborn act. It's /mom/, even if she never was around much she's his mom. And he shrinks down a little. "Then maybe I'm not supposed to be king! Sundali is supposed to help me be a king, and I /won't/ just leave her to those lions!" He takes a deep, shaky breath and looks down at their paws. "I know I can do it, mom. Onaedo and I together, we can go in and bring Sundali back. I know how to do it this time, and I /know/ I'll succeed. I just know it. So I can't just sit here, knowing what fate she's being condemned to as I continue leading my cushy life here." Even if it hasn't always been that cushy, it's nothing compared to what Sundali must be going through. "So I'll wait until I get a little better, but I /am/ going, mom, as soon as I can. Or else, I don't want to be a king. I'll step down as heir."
Tisea sits there patiently as she listens before she sighs, "Whatever you think you need to do Kamau," she begins sternly before pausing and letting her features soften. "Do it. But just remember you have responsibilities to others now, not just yourself and your friends... but I understand... You and Onaedo have a lot to learn however." She fixes that motherly stare on him, "Get along with Elimnyama.. You don't have to like him, but he's your brother and he just wants to look out for you. And I swear to the gods Kamau if you get yourself killed I'm going to the after life to hunt you down and spank your rump raw! You hear me?" She smiles faintly before licking his cheek lovingly, "I'll be around more. You boys need your mother. I can't leave yall alone for two seconds without something going astray," she scoffs jokingly. She was also going to be around because Elimnyama needed her considering Waset's condition.
"I know. I know. But I have a responsibility to Sundali, too." Kamau manages to calm down though, since his mother isn't instantly yelling at him and forbidding him to go. He makes a face, however, when she licks him. "Awww moooom!" he whines, wrinkling his nose. "Onaedo and I are big now, we'll be alright. Though... wait." He's only just catching up with what was said earlier. "Waset can't be dying, she wasn't so bad off when we were sent to Kivuli in the first place. C...can she?" He looks sad all over again, but he manages to swallow hard and keep his emotions in check. "I do like Elimnyama. He's my brother. He can't just go ordering me /not/ to help my friends though. Sunny is /important/ to me."
The lioness fixes him with a stare, "Yes he can Kamau. He's your King. ANd he's scared for you, remember that. Think in his paws.." The lioness stands and stretches before droping her gaze and sighing, "Yes Kamau.. she can die. That is just how life works..." The retired queen leaves out the part of her being pregnant as well and nuzzles her son gently, "I'll be at the cavern with her if you need me ok? Just.... be careful. I can't loose you too.." She looks at him for a moment, wishing he could have met his father.. met Fuadi. The lioness smiles before turning and slowly strolling towards the pridal cavern, a place she hadn't visited in many moons. "I love you Kam'," she calls over her shoulder, "No matter how big you may be or think you are, your still my little boy." d**n right! Cause Mamma Said So!
Kamau sighs, but does offer a slight nod to his mother. Not that it means much - he's still going to run off to try and save his friend - but he at least acknowledges that she has a point. Oh well. "Okay. I love you too mom," he calls after her as she leaves. He remains where he's standing for a few moments, but then he turns away as well and continues off towards the mountains. Waset /dying/? It is just bad look all around for the Tyne men and their women.
