Arazia - Barbary Lioness
Zuri - Adol. Barbary Lioness
Dhoruba - Lioness (Tyne acting Huntmistress)
Towards the base of tyne's great rocks, the central landmark of the lands, Arazia moves with steady steps. It's late... or perhaps it is early. The stars still linger in the night's sky, but there is a bit of red that is creeping up towards the horizon. She seems lost in her own thoughts, shaggy fur swaying as she steps over rocks and makes her way towards the pridal cavern. Her eyes look momentarily towards the sky, and then towards the pridal cavern. Rather than moving further, she pauses in her steps, and sits... as if trying to come to grips with her new existance here.
Zuri's barely even been here a day, but the young lioness has been able to clean up some. Her paw is looking better. The blood is at least gone and when she walks she is putting more weight on it. Her fur is cleaner too and returning more to it's usual smooth fluffiness now that she has been able to bathe. Not used to having so many other lions around and hardly sure what to do with herself without Sakina to look after, the young lioness hasn't been able to sleep. She hasn't found her place yet and despite being allowed to stay, she still has that outside feeling. It's all of these things that bring her out to where Arazia is. Seeing the other lioness, and her kin, she hesitates and then slowly makes her way over. She sits a few feet away from her and rather than speak in greeting, she makes a soft noise.
As if waking from some sort of dream, Arazia lifts her head at the sound, slowly moving her gaze towards the younger lioness. She doesn't seem surprised, but as if she were not sure quite what to say or do for a moment. Her ears tip downwards, but she manages a somewhat shy smile. "Good morning." There is a soft, somewhat joking tone to her voice, knowing quite well that she hadn't slept, and it's doubtful that the girl had had much luck either. Both of them were new to this place, so in some way they had more in common than just blood. "So... you couldn't sleep either, huh?" Her tone has a soft, somewhat musical quality to it, tinged with just a hint of exhaustion creeping in to things.
The shy smile is returned by Zuri and she hesitantly moves a little closer to Arazia. "Good morning," she replies. She shakes her head. "No, not well. It's hard without Sakina. I'm worried. I've always looked after her and been there to protect her. I don't know if she made it somewhere safe." It's probably the most the young lioness has said to anyone since she's arrived. She's been quiet and stayed in the background, still unsure about how to interact with other lions for the most part. "How long have you been here?"
The older lioness reaches her head down, hesitantly trying to nudge Zuri with her maw. It's a quiet, supportive gesture from the once-rogue lioness, trying to show that she's accepting of this relative she's never known. "I lost my brother during the floods..." She sighs slightly, looking skyward. "I don't know what ever happened to him... but I searched for him for a long time. Until I thought I was the only one left." This is where the smile returns slightly to her face. "I'm glad I was wrong, but... I hope the Great Kings are watching over your sister." Her voice fades off, as if she were not sure if she were even saying the right things. Up until now, she had only had passing conversations with other rogues, leaving much doubt about dealing with others. However, the question is something she can answer. "Not much longer than you, actually. A few days in the pride, but I'd stolen water here during the worst of the Great Dry."
Zuri doesn't move away from the nudge, though she doesn't return it either. She smiles a little more at Arazia, seemingly thankful for the gesture. "I'm sorry about your brother," she murmurs, dropping her head a little. "And I hope so too. She needs looking after. I just hope she found her way to another pride." Lifting her head she looks back at the sky, closing her eyes a few moments. "Has it been hard adjusting?"
With Waset being sick and unable to be huntmistress Dhoruba has taken over the part for the time being. Well someone had to, they needed to get food for the pride and she figured she would get to it. At the moment she is making her way down from the pridal cavern, tail lashing and ears perked as her bright gaze drifts towards the voices of the two below her. A faint humm escapes her while she pauses at the base of the path and lifts her head. "Evening.." The large lioness offers while eyeing them both. She hasn't spoke to either King in some time so seeing two new lions here makes her wonder what is going on.
"No reason to be sorry... the stars guide us where we need to be." Arazia nods her head, as if she was somewhat still trying to convince herself of this fact. She does seem hesitant, but suggests momentarily, "I heard that... one of the princes here is on some sort of diplomatic training in Kivuli. Perhaps if she made it there, he could tell you when he returns?" It's an attempt at giving some hope, some light at the end of the tunnel. "As for adjusting... well, it's slow." She laughs softly, and perhaps might have said more, but the greeting from Dhoruba distracts her. Turning and inclining her head, Arazia returns the greeting in kind. "Evening." Although it's almost closer to morning at this point. Unlike Zuri, who looks very similar to Zia herself, there isn't anywhere near enough resemblance for her to have any idea that this new lioness is at all related to them.
At this news Zuri perks. "Really? Which one of the princes? One of Kamau's brothers?" she asks curiously. Kamau is one of the only lions she has formally met so far, after all. She too looks like she is about to say more, but with the incoming lioness she stops, turning her head toward her. She bows her head a little in greeting, but for now, she stays silent.
Dhoruba eyes the two curiously a few moments before she settles down onto her haunches upon the path way. Waset is sick up in the cave she isn't about to let anyone just wander up it that's for sure. "So.. Who are you two? An why are you here?" She gets right to the questions. "I'm Dhoruba, acting Huntmistress for the Tyne Pride."
Keeping her voice down, Arazia shrugs her shoulders a bit. "I'm not sure of his name... I think one of Elimnyama's sons, though." She knew who some of the royalty were, but there were others whom she hadn't met as of yet. Her eyes stay on Dhoruba, though, as she gets to her feet and takes a step forward, bowing her head lightly. "I'm Arazia... most everyone calls me 'Zia. Once of the Kivuli pride, once rogue, now a huntress in Tyne. Elimn' has graciously allowed me to stay here." She glances behind her at Zuri, not wanting to overstep her bounds too much, but she does say... "This is my cousin Zuri." With not a single hint that she had just met the younger lioness.
Zuri nods her head as she takes in the information offered. All the introductions are left to Arazia and when there is no mention that they just met, she does not bring it up. "Kamau said I should talk to you about helping with the hunting. I'm a decent huntress, though I've only been hunting for my sister and I," she explains quietly.
Dhoruba ahs faintly, Cyrus or Amahl then it seems. She'll have to have a talk with them if they keep this up. "Kivuli huh?" She questions curiously, she hasn't thought about that pride for some time. A glance is offered to Zuri then back to Arazia. "I see.. Well I was pulling the other hunters out for a early moring hunt in a bit. Would be good to see your skills then so I can decide what area you might be good at."
Arazia nodding her head, Arazia doesn't go on to say anything more about Kivuli. It was a time of her life that passed long ago, and with most of her family dead or lost to the sands of time, it's best to leave it in the past, and make a new beginning. Although she seems a bit tired, the barbary lioness stays standing on her feet. "If you'd like. It would be my first time hunting in a group since I was young." Zia admits this much, although she doesn't seem terribly embarassed by it. Sometimes a rogue has a few tricks when it comes to hunting.
Zuri nods. "I was injured before I got here," she tells Dhoruba. "I'm healing, and I can hunt, but I won't be at my best." It was just her paw that was hurt, but that does effect her speed. She glances to Arazia again as she speaks. The lioness seems perfectly okay with letting the others do the talking.
Dhoruba humms softly at this and nods, a faint smile soon offered. "Well then.. I will give you both a few days to rest before the hunt how is that?" She questions while her tail curls to her side. "A worn out or hurt lioness can pose a danger to everyone during a hunt after all."
Arazia seems a bit surprised at this change of thought, so much so that she actually sits down, tail curling around her haunches. One ear quirks forward, as she nods a little bit, perhaps understanding the reasoning of it. "That would probably be for the best." A worried expression shows across her face, "I was hoping to find something... anything to try and help Elimn' and his mate, today. I owe him that much for giving us a home." Again, she seems to naturally include Zuri as part of her family. "But I'll be ready whenever you have need of it."
