Elimnyama, King of Tyne
Onaedo, Lord of Tyne
Kamau, Lord of Tyne/Heir
Anasa, Huntress of Tyne
Location: PolePole Stream
Brothers fight, but they're still brothers. ...We think?
So many things are running through Onaedo's mind at the moment as he limps along slowly towards the stream. Its taking a lot of effort for him to even be standing and the only reason behind this is that he is half leaning against Kamau to help support him. The young lion is covered in wounds, ranging from deep bites and claw marks to scratches and puncture wounds, needless to say his a mess. Once at the water's edge he has to stop, his side heaving a few times while he looks down at the water's surface while blood still drips down from wounds across his face. After a few more steps he just drops down onto his stomach, taking the impact with a pained grunt/whine mix while he starts to lap at the water's surface.
Kamau is in no better shape than Onaedo, but he's doing a slightly better job of walking. He helps his brother along, limping from a severely injured paw, though his other leg looks like it's just been through a shredder. He's got claw marks all over most of his front and his belly, as well as on his face (which probably /look/ the worst), and a bite mark on his shoulder. But once they reach the river, he watches his brother get in before stepping into the water himself, slumping his shoulders as the cool water runs over his injuries. He hasn't said anything on the way over, but he doesn't mind the silence for now. It's easier to try and forget everything that just happened in the silence.
She's finally met up with the king of this place and, reluctantly, explained to him her position. He seemed nice enough, if preoccupied. The only time she got his attention was when she mentioned that Msasi was her mother. The elusive and probably never-to-be-seen-again Msasi. Elim' had seemed pretty shocked by that, but he seemed to think that the daughter of the former huntmistress might benefit Tyne, so Anasa finds herself welcome to stay. She's taking her time exploring the lands now that the anxiety that comes with trespassing has been lifted. Just for fun she's following the river, coppery figure quite visible against the vibrant green of the foliage that surrounds the water. Dimly she hears movement upstream and glances up, squinting dark brown eyes towards the figures just visible in the distance. Surely they're members of Tyne so the girl may as well introduce herself. Swinging her tail happily in the wake of her steps, Anasa makes her way toward Kamau and Onaedo, not yet aware of their plight
their plight. As she nears them, though, a frown begins to cross her face and her gait slows until she stops altogether. What the-..?
Onaedo had told her she could stay now didn't he? A mere glance is offered to his brother as if to make sure his still breathing, seeing that he is the injured lord rolls onto his side in the water, a hiss of pain heard as the cool water seeps into his wounds. At this movement he doesn't care, his head even settles down on a rock that keeps his nose just out of the water so he can do that breathing thing. Movement is picked up, a flick of his ear is seen before his bright gaze slowly drifts over and he catches sight of Anasa and just watches her for a few moments. He takes in a breath of air and coughs as some water goes up his nose in the process, half gagging he lifts his head up and gives it a shake to help get the water out of his nose. "Anasa.." His finally able to say after a few moments. Well he and his brother are for sure a sight to see, all hurt and nearly walking dead so to speak..
Kamau dunks himself down in the water, but hurries half-way out as soon as he's gotten that far. He doesn't like water. But the initial dunking does a little, getting some of the blood off of him and cleaning him up a bit. He stops when still half-way in, however, lifting his injured paw to let himself try and relax a little. Untill, that is, a /girl/ shows up. A GIRL. A girl who is NOT related to him! He's left standing there staring, right up until his brother speaks up. "Anasa?" he asks his twin before looking back at her. "Who're you?" Perhaps not the best question to ask when he is bleeding all over the place.
Onaedo's not the king, although Anasa was very glad he said she could stay. But of the few lessons Msasi taught her, one of uppermost importance was to give all respect to the king and queen. Anasa had been waiting for that fateful rendevouz with whatever member of the high royalty she stumbled across first, and it went relatively well. Especially (although Anasa could not have known it) considering how much Elim' didn't LIKE Msasi. But oh well. Moving on. Anasa bites her lip as she keeps squinting, struggling to make out just why those boys look that way from afar. Then she recognizes the symptoms of injury and she lets out an alarmed gasp. She bounds forward, crossing the stream in a few graceful leaps, and within a moment she is close enough to make out that it's Onaedo and some other lion. "Great gods!" the girl blurts out, gaze flitting around, taking stock of their various hurts. "Are you boys okay?!" Well, duh. She glances at Kamau, her brows raised. "I'm Anasa. Msasi's daughter. What's happened to you two?"
Well their just peachy keen don'tcha know? Of course there not okay, but they are alive unlike two other lions at the border now. "Fight.. with other lions." Onaedo says while trying to pull himself up but he doesn't get to far and just slumps back down in the water. His eyes close for a moment. "Kamau this is Anasa, Anasa this is my brother Kamau." So its not the best time to do this, but he might as well do it and get it over with right?
Kamau tears his eyes away from the girl to look at his brother, and the surprise at finding a girl-lion who is not related to him and is /not/ Sunny is replaced with concern for his brother. So he limps over to the golden boy to protectively stand by him. "Oh. Oh, Msasi's kid. I think I've met your sister, Sanyu," he tells her quietly, keeping his pale eyes on Onaedo. "Waset sent us on a mission to go get a healer from Kivuli. We were ambushed along the way. They took our friend, and tried to kill us." From underwater, he digs the claws from his uninjured paw into the muddy bed of the steam, and his ears go flat against his head. His best friend got kidnapped, he and his brother just almost died, and on top of it all he's meeting a /girl/ and is sopping wet and bloody all over. This is just not the young lord's day, not at all.
Anasa feels her lips form a small, amused smirk in spite of her present anxiety. Nevermind injury! Onaedo will attend to the IMPORTANT things.. introductions! XD She bobs her head quickly and acknowledgingly to Kamau by way of carrying out her part of the little custom, then returns to the matter at hand. "Mmhn, Sanyu's my sister, although I haven't seen her for a long time. Not sure where she is." She tilts her head, brows furrowing a bit. "Holy what. How are you guys not /dead/?" she asks, thunderstruck. "Well.. um.. We should probably get you guys up to the main cave, right? You guys look like walking's kind of hard.. lemme see if anybody's around to help us." Moving a few yards away from the boys, Anasa puts her lungs to the test and lets out a roar. In its rolling tones she tries to insert a sense of urgency that hopefully whomever responds will be able to detect. Worried eyes flick back to Kamau and Onaedo and Anasa reclines onto her haunches, wired with apprehension for the boys' sake.
Onaedo does his best! His head lowers back down to the rock in the water while he eyes Anasa a few moments half expecting the rest of that group of lions to come charging in for more lionesses to drag off. His shoulders lower and he glances to the water feeling like a utter faliure that he couldn't protect Sunny. Move? The thought of moving doesn't get much a reaction out of him, his to tired to even think about the process it would take to /get/ to the cave. Anyway the water feels nice, can't he just stay here and feel bad on his own?
As if Kamau would allow Onaedo to feel bad on his own! Misery loves company. "We aren't dead, because we won our fight and the rest of the lions had left with our friend," he explains to Anasa, his voice a bit haughty, but he calms down as he leans closer to his brother. "We will get her back. Come on Onaedo, you know we will," he murmurs to his brother, sensing his mood and wanting to cheer up his brother, even if he doesn't feel like being cheery himself. Lowering his bleeding nose, he dips it into the water and tries to splash Onaedo's back to help clean him up a bit more. It's something to do, at the very least.
"Her?" Anasa repeats, raising her brows again. "Wait.. It's not your friend Sundali, is it?" The two girls had a brief but memorable meeting. Anasa had really been hopeful of having found a potential best friend; they'd gotten along so well. The young girl's ears pin back as a stone falls into her stomach at the thought of that nice Sundali in the cluthes of some unknown villanous lions. She doesn't get much time to stress over this development before the 'help' arrives .. Elimnyama had heard the roar and deftly noted the frantic urgency embedded in it. His pace is rapid already as he nears the river, but as he spots the three figures and recognizes his younger brothers, the lion's stride swells to an all out gallop. "What's happened?!" he bursts as he enters the scene, widening eyes taking in the boys' appearance with the rapidity of a lightning strike. "And where's Sundali?"
"I know." Onaedo offers with a quiet tone to his brother. This still doesn't mak ehim feel good, there had to be something he could have done.. Though he isn't fully sure of just what that something might have been. A glance is offered to Anasa before his gaze turns back to the water, yes its Sundali but he doesn't want to admit it. At the sudden cold water to his back he grunts and half pushes himself up as the water runs across his shoulder wounds, he feels like a darn chew toy. At the new movement he tenses up, a faint growl escaping him until he sees that its Elimnyama only, which makes him slip quiet. At the question he frowns head lowering as he sits there dripping with both water and blood looking very much like a defeated lion.
Normally, Kamau would be grateful to find his older brother coming to the rescue. And initially, he is happy to see the dark lion. But that only lasts until they're asked, /yet again/, what happened. Haven't they had to explain it enough already?! But he supposes the King would have to know. So, alright. One more time. And then he's done talking about what happened for a good long while. Limping out of the stream, he manages to shake some of the water off of himself and begins to look over the wounds that he can see to try and start measuring the damage done. "We were going to Kivuli with Sundali, and we got ambushed. We thought there was just one lion at first, but it turned out to be five. They took Sundali, and two of them stayed back to kill Onaedo and I so that we couldn't follow." He's leaving out all the fighting in between, but oh well. "Only, Onaedo and I won. But we were too injured to go after them. But," he adds, and with some ferocity. He even lifts his eyes again to look at his brother. "We're going to train and get stronger, and then we'll get her back. I think a leopard is off trying to track them as we speak. A new leopard, I hadn't seen that one before, but she was very helpful. I think his name was Tolga."
The help showed up faster than even Anasa had hoped. She sits quietly nearby, watching the exchange attentively and merely awaiting the opportunity to help by doing whatever she can ... Elimnyama meanwhile is breathless with tension. There are several issues he needs to address, if he can rope in his rage at these unnamed lions long enough to make a stab at coherant speech. "They /took/ Sundali?" Did he hear that right? What would a bunch of rogue lions want with- ...... oh. The king shudders involuntarily at the thought. Rogues really can be a disgusting species. "So.. you killed these other two? Nobody followed you back here?" His face clouds over at Kamau's words and Elim' bares his teeth at his younger brother. "You guys can't just go barging in on three grown males. If Aitan was around, he and I would go after her.. By the time you guys get strong enough for THAT, Sundali may be dead. At any rate, you guys aren't in any condition to do anything for a while. And.. I have no d**n clue who 'Tolga' is."
Onaedo listions to his brothers, maw twitching as they both talk. His gaze turns to Elim as he goes about bring he and Kamau down even more. A half growl escapes him once Elim bares his teeth, his not in the best moods here. "What did you want us to do? Let them take her without a fight?!" He snaps out at Elim while dragging himself up onto his paws, which takes a lot of effort. "We didn't have time to come back here to get you or Aitan and I wasn't about to just them take her without a fight." He glares at his brother at the comment of Sunny may be dead by then. "Don't say that.." A glance is offered to Kamau before he starts to limp out of the water. "Should of known his responce to this." He snaps out angerly as he goes.
"Yes. Took her," Kamau clarifies, limping out a little more and starting to lick some of his wounds clean. Except, yelch. Gross blood. But it'll be even more gross if it gets infected. "And we killed them, yes. No one followed us back. Though they know where Tyne is. The biggest one seems to have some sort of grudge against us." He turns to watch his other brother as he starts snapping at the king, however, and then he's limping off to stay by the other boy's side. "We are nearly fully grown, Elim'. And she's our friend. We /are/ going to go off and get her back, as soon as we can." His eyes flash with defiance, and his expression turns hard. There is absolutely no way he's going to take 'no' for an answer here. "We took down two more experienced lions on our own and injured the other three. And we have to get her back." Though he takes a deep breath after that and glances at Ona' again. "Tolga is new around here. Though we owe him for his help."
Anasa flattens her ears as if expecting a blow when the lions begin to bear teeth and growl. Why is she here? She could just slip away quietly.. But whenever these males decide it's FINALLY time to head up to the main cavern and Kamau and Onaedo've got to lean on SOMETHING, then they'll miss her ... Elim' casts an eye toward Onaedo when he hears the growl, and returns one of his own in a 'don't even think of starting with me' sort of way. Giving his attention back to Kamau, he listens closely and it occurs to him that he might have been misunderstood. "I never said you SHOULDN'T go after her," he replies, angry but sincere. "I just mean, the way you made it sound before, that you guys were going to wait months until you were older and stronger to go after her and knowing rogues I DON'T think we'll have that much time. Once they get what they want from her-," insert second shudder here, "-They may and probably WILL kill her. Rogues are like that." YES for discriminating generalizations. Hadn't he just met a perfectly friendly rogue the other day and admitted her into the pride? SILENCE! "I'm glad you guys fought, that's what you should've done. But I'm going with you when you go to get her back, and that's got to be SOON."
Onaedo eyes Elim bitterly a few moments before turning his attention back in front of him as he slowly moves away from the water's edge onto dryer ground. As for him snapping off at the king, his had a rather bad night he has a reason for being like this. He slips quiet and sinks down to his haunches, forepaws gripping at the ground while a sigh escapes him. Yes they will go after Sunny, and as far as he sees it he isn't going to wait around Elim or Aitan. He and Kamau just need to get healed up and then they can go take care of the last three.. Sure they can!
"No... not months and months," Kamau clarifies. "But we aren't in any shape to go chasing down barbary rogues at the moment. We'll just... get better. And we'll get stronger in the meantime. And then we'll go back." He takes a shaking breath, balancing on three paws at the moment. He's /really/ in no shape to go chasing down Rogues. Right now, at least. But soon. Speaking of which, he narrows his eyes at his older brother as if he's about to try and say 'no' again. "Fine," he says instead, "but we're leaving as soon as we're ready. And /I/ want their leader to myself." Even if the leader is bigger than him. And a better fighter than him. But the leader made things personal for Kamau, and he'll never forgive himself if he doesn't personally punish the barbary rogue for it.
While Onaedo in such a mood Elim' can do nothing but ignore the younger lion and let him sulk. After he listens to Kamau, Elimnyama's ears are flattened. "This isn't going to be some valiant crusade, Kamau. It's not a game. If you're not gonna be willing to listen to me, someone who's older and who knows a damned lot more about fighting than you do, then besides being way too stupid to ever be a king you're gonna probably DIE. And before you argue, just think a little bit about Tyne. Then we'd be missing two lions, that's two less who'll be there to protect our lands and our mates and our children, and one of them is an heir. Just .. try to think about what the rest of us would have to go through if you guys died, before you go storming off on some hero quest." That's all the king can think of to say at this particular moment, when his temper is bubbling so high to the surface. He's got a lot else to say, in particular when Kamau declares that he shall bravely fight the giant leader himself, but it wil
will wait a few days until they're all a bit less stressed.
Onaedo huffs faintly as Elim goes on talking about how it would be bad for them too leave incase they die. Well it would be one way to lose two mouths to feed.. ANYWAY.. Ona pulls himself back to his paws and starts to limp homewards, as far as he sees this conversation is done. He has nothing else to say to Elim on the matter. Sunny is out there somewhere with these lions and when his able his going to find her one way or another, and if he dies.. well so be it. Hopfully after a few days rest he will be more open to the idea.
No one ever said Kamau wasn't stubborn. Because, well, he /is/ stubborn. Stubborn enough to run off with just his brother and maybe a leopard if his oldest brother won't let him do things his way. Er, 'their way', since Onaedo is included, obviously. And he actually listens to Onaedo. "It is not a hero guest. I am just going to do whatever it takes to save /my/ best friend." Gee, one would think Kam' has some sort of /claim/ over Sunny - or at least, who gets to save the white lioness. And he /will/ bravely fight against Mkumu himself. And he will win, this time. Just Elim' wait.
Sitting awkwardly by and eavesdropping almost against her will and better judgement, Anasa only snaps out of her reverie when one of the boys starts walking away. She gets to her paws and glances back at Kamau and Elim', biting her lower lip slightly. This is really just horribly awkward for her and she's not sure what to do. Apparently Onaedo doesn't NEED help. With a quiet sigh, she turns and begins to make her own way off. Not toward Tyne Rock. This encounter had made her feel such an outsider she really doesn't feel like approaching the rest of the pride. So away goes the young lioness, back downstream, feeling awkward and dejected and sad for the loss of that Sundali girl. She was so nice ... It's possible, Elim' thinks for the first time as he watches Kamau's frustratingly stubborn face, that he really HAS made a bad decision in choosing Kamau as heir. Sure it's admirable that the younger lion wants to rescue his friend and all, but it's the fact that he's so willing to dismiss his pride and his responsibilities that really worries his older brother. "And if you die, screw the rest of the world that's just the way things go, is it?" Elim' makes this statement very quietly and calmly, and with an expression of mixed sadness and disappointment. Without another word he simply turns and follows in Onaedo's wake back toward Tyne Rock. He's got thinking to do.
On the top of Elim's list of 'things to think about' should probably be: Don't talk to stubborn young lions when they've just witnessed the most traumatic experience of their young lives and are a bit woozy from blood loss. Good things will never come of it. But Kamau is done, growling a little at his older brother's last words but heading off to follow his brother. And quietly - very, very quietly - he whispers to Onaedo, "Just because /he/ would put his title above Waset doesn't mean we should put anything above /our/ best friend." But although Elim' can probably guess that muttering is going on, he makes sure to keep his voice quiet enough so as not to be overheard. And er. Blood loss! And limping! Wheee.
Onaedo lets his gaze turn to follow after Anasa, pausing long enough to see where she goes. He'll have to find her later and talk to her.. His head lowers as he starts moving once more, slow limping pace towards the cave. A ear twitching to Kamau and Elim, though if he has anything else to say he doesn't. His to tired to think let alone /talk/ about anything else. Sleep.. that's all he wants at the moment.
