WOW. So a bunch of friends and I went to the midnight premiere of the new 'Cloverfield' movie last night (which, in case you haven't heard of it before now, has nothing to do with either clovers or fields). And I just wanted to get the word out about it.... it's a pretty alarming movie! Giant monster-like thing terrorizing Manhattan and causing some REALLY gruesome effects. The Blair Witch-esque handheld camera filming method is a little much after a while, but as long as you take some aspirin with you then you should be good! So, yeah! CLOVERFIELD. I enjoyed it! Two big hairy Elim' thumbs up. Go see it! Scream! Hide your face in your girlfriend's purse! It'll be okay, 'cause she'll be scared too and probably won't notice. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go back to bed and have another nightmare about big slimy alien monsters. best movie evah.

You know what else was also very, very good?
The Orphanage
They're calling it this year's "Pan's Labyrinth." It's a spanish foreign film and it's very, very good! Terror based movie, so if you go to see it be ready to be creeped/freaked/wigged out in several parts of the movie. It reminded me alot of The Sixth Sense simply because it has alot of "OHMYBOBWHAT THE HELL???!!" Kinda moments. Just like
*BLAM*
I almost fell out of my seat once.
I've heard Cloverfield is pretty good. My friend guessed the big scary monster was a new-age Godzilla? Yes/no?

WELL, sort of. It's like Godzilla in that it basically comes out of the ocean (but there are rumors that it came down from space INTO the ocean first) and it rampages through New York. However, it is unlike Godzilla in that there is no stupid cliche love story on the side and no massive clutch of Godzilla babies in Madison Square Garden. Also, no Matthew Broderick.
Also, Godzilla never did.......... exactly what the Cloverfield monster does to people. I don't want to give anything away, but one of the character's deaths is particularly disturbing.
I recently saw Pan's Labyrinth and it was SO SAD. GAHH. But it did give me a fun new way to terrorize my female friends, i.e. chasing them around with my palms over my eyes.
