*pays her homage*
I loved him. His death was sudden and really a freak kind of accident.
He will be missed greatly.

He was an awesome man, despite how kooky he acted. I feel much respect for the work he did, and I feel great sadness at his loss.

Some more recent articles to pop up. Copy-paste the last three into the address bar.. the commas screw up the auto link. o_x dsc.discovery.com/news/2006/09/04/irwin2_hum.html?category=animals&guid=20060904163030&&clik=news_tkr Talk about the memorial fund that is to be created in his name.. also mentions there will be a full day of programming in honor of his memory. www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,20867,20356503-601,00.html Pretty much just saying that it's too early to decide on if Bindi's show will still go on, or if any of the footage taken during this final trip will ever be shown. www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,20867,20356034-29277,00.html The zoo will continue his work. www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,20867,20355112-601,00.html Discusses how he died and a bit about what the film shows. If you're sensitive to this sort of thing or don't care to know details, I'd skip this article.

I read one article that quoted a sign that was placed outside the zoo in memorial:
"I thought you were immortale. How I wish it were true."

I think we all wish it were true.
I read another article (http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,20360477-5001021,00.html) and I found this to be the cutest thing. Steve might be gone.. but perhaps in a decade or two we'll be watching Bindi and Bob running around on tv, jumping on crocs.

Airings of Croc Hunter (and other Steve Irwin shows) planned for this week: animal.discovery.com/fansites/crochunter/steve/tunein.htmlAlthough from the looks of it, they're so far mostly airing the same two episodes. Which are very good episodes and should be aired given what has happened, since they are two episodes that focus mostly on him and his life and such.. but I was hoping for a bit more variety in the airings. Especially since they already showed 'Steve's Story' and 'Confessions' multiple times last night. XD Ohwell. I'm going to chalk it up to the fact that it's still early.. and hop they do a more varied showing of episodes from Croc Hunter sometime in the future as a tribute thinger.

They're probably in the making of a tribute episode that will air soon..
*sob*
It's hard to think about. If I think about it too much, I'll start to cry.

animal.discovery.com/fansites/crochunter/steve/steve.html?clik=netmain_feat2Animal Planet/Discovery are doing a wonderful job with tribute things on this website. A link is provided to the Wildlife Warriors Fund for donations to be made.. a desktop wallpaper (that I quickly added to my desktop, even if it makes me a bit teary everytime I look at it).. video and picture memorials.. and, something I'm sure Steve would be thrilled to see, an Explore a Stingray educational tour thinger to learn about stingrays (they certaintly don't deserve any bad rep about what happened.. I'm Steve would want everyone to know that they're wonderful animals).

I get quotes from ThinkExist sent to my email every morning. Usually I just glance at them. Sometimes there is one that really fits into my life or state of mind at the time. I got this one this morning and thought it incredibly appropriate to this situation:
It is not length of life, but depth of life. -- Ralph Waldo Emerson. American Poet, Lecturer and Essayist, 1803- 1882

The public memorial will aparently be shown live on TV next week. It will be at 9am on Wednesday (Austrailia time).. which translates to about 7pm EST on Tuesday (4pm on Tuesday where I am).
The channel it will be on is not yet known. I'm guessing that here it will either be Discovery or Animal Planet. It'd be great to get it on network TV.. but I dunno if they will. Wait and see, wait and see.
