(- Kimondo -) Waterhole
Following - unknown to them, of course - in the wake of her sister and father, little Princess Selamawit patiently traces her way through the lush green fronds that tower over her head. Busily she's working out matters in her brain - a story. Lately as she's sat around, the girl has thought.. and thought. She's not asked a great deal of questions, for many of said thoughts are hard for one so young to put into words, but as time moves along, she's making progress. In her own opinion. Listening to Mai's rambling with a fraction of her attention, Sela' slows her pace as they draw further to the waterhole. BAHA.
Demissle has arrived.
The rogue lioness seems to have fallen asleep at the waterhole again, this time one of her paws dangling over the edge of the water. Oh, /and/ she's about to fall in if she plans on rolling over in her dreams. But for now, she snores quietly, and is unaware of the cub's babbling about lake monsters. Eh ... she hates cubs anyway. They're icky! They're made from ... /males/. And she's not too fond of them unless she has to be [lucky Annie].
Anubis glances around, grinning as Mai bounds ahead to check out the shore of the water hole for the lake monster's footprints. His gaze lands first upon the sleeping, snoring form of Amina. The king considers going to wake her up.. you know, wouldn't want her to go about falling in or anything.. but shouts from Mai draw his attention away. "PAPA! Lookit! Lake monster tracks! Lookit, Papa! Come ON! He's gotta be here!" The princess is jumping around, spinning in circles.. enough to make Annie wonder where she's gotten all that energy from. The girl pauses only long enough to greet Selamawit, whom she has finally spotted. "SELA! C'mon! Lake monster!" Anubis glances behind him and, upon spotting his other daughter, offers her a grin. "Hey, squirt."
Lake Monster?.. This is all Dem hears as he bounds down the path to catch up to his ather and sisters. "Hey!.. Wait up for /ME/!" The prince calls out while quicking his steps to find out what there looking at and all. "What Lake Monster??" The boy questions while blinking his mismatched gaze as he looks around.
Amina has disconnected.
Selamawit shoots Mai a glance and wriggles her nose in playful, silent response. Eh, she'll tag along. What the hey? Anubis receives a similar greeting, and also the girl flashes him a brief, devilish grin as if she knew something he didn't. "Morning, da!" is her bright reply before she lollops easily through his legs to join her sister and brother.
Mai's own grin grows as her brother and sister both join in and, with a paw waved at a print in the muddy shore, she launches into explanation for Demissle's sake. "The lake monster that made THIS. It's super evil.. and it east ANYONE who goes near the water." The princess gives a quick, sage bob of her head. "An' Papa said we could come down 'ere and catch it. 'Cause.. if we don't, it might eat.. Momma! Or.. Grampa!" So.. it's their civic duty as royal children to rid the water hole of this awful beast! Anubis pads up behind them, sparing a glance at the muddy print. It looks as if it belonged to a zebra.. but then got smeared by a lion stepping on it later on. Leaning down, the king frowns. "Hrm.. yep. That's a lake monster print all right." He confirms, nodding his head. "And it looks pretty fresh, too."
Demissle lifts a brow while pausing at Mai's side to eye the print. A hum escaping her. "Ya.. looks like a lake monster.." His gaze snaps towards there father. "What's it look like?!.. I wana know so I can catch it!" Dem offers with a grin, tail slowly swaying a few times before he pauses.. "Fresh.. so.. its.. around here an stuff?.."
Feleti has arrived.
"Lake monster?" replies the alabaster princess, subsequently frowning at the print as the others do. Her nose wrinkles, and she casts a suspicious glance at Anubis, studying his expression though unfortunately she gets nothing out of /that/. "What would a lake monster need feet for, if it lives in the water?" Selamawit asks steadily, thereafter employing little teeth and claws to scale her father's leg and eventually gain a perch between his shoulders."Huh?"
Anubis stands as still as possible, allowing Selamawit to take her place back on his shoulders. Mai, down on the ground, rolls her mint green eyes skyward and heaves an exasperated sigh. "Because it c'n move all OVER the place," The gold and white girl explains. "An' they're only LIDDLE feet an' it swims mosta the time." Turning her attention back to Demissle, Mai launches into an imaginative description of the monster. "Well, I never sawed it before 'cept this one time.. it was BIG. Bigger than /Papa/ even. An' it ate this big 'ol lion all in one gulp!" The princess begins to pace as she describes the creature, jumping about and swatting out with her paws at parts. "He has BIG teeth.. bigger than you, Dem'. Forty-leven of 'em An'.. he's brighter than the sun! An he's got a big, long tail that he uses t'grab yeh with! Right, Papa?" Anubis hurries to hide the grin that had formed upon hearing Mai's description of the beast. "Oh, yeah. Forty-leven teeth, exactly."
Demissle eyes Mai slightly just smirking. "Yer /lying/." The boy states with a matter-oh-fact like tone before moving to his father's form and peering up at him. "Did it really eat a lion?.. Is it bigger den you, Papa??" Dem questions while peering after Sela. "Your just mad caue you think its not real an it IS if dad says so!" YA.. so take /ThAT.
Nishati has arrived.
There is a newfound rustling within the grasses -- but there is no stealthiness about it. It's a steady sound, not to mention lopsided. One glance in the appropriate direction would explain why: it's Feleti, making her way in, her scarred leg now giving her a permanent limp in her advanced age. With tail flicking leisurely about her haunches, the bronze-and-gray lioness pauses for a moment on the fringes of the water hole -- just to quietly watch the interaction of her son and grandcubs. A grin -- strikingly similar to the one Anubis isn't hiding very well -- curls onto her features as she begins hobbling forward again. "Talkin' about the lake monster, eh? Someone see 'im again?"
Selamawit plunks herself down between Anubis' shoulder-blades and turns half-lidded, rather drily amused eyes on Mai. "Then that's /dumb/ to call it a LAKE monster. You should call it a lake AND LAND monster. Or just give it a name." Like.. Filbert! She sniffs at Demissle and grins. "I didn't say that, an' I'm not mad," she answers, with an unforced ring of maturity. She also gives Anubis a reproachful look that he probably can't see given her new perch, but the arrival of Feleti drives the desire out of her head. Sela' looks over, bright amber eyes widening a touch.. and boy, does she ever shut-up.
A crimson-tipped ear twitches in Feleti's direction and the grin spills across Anubis' face as he turns his gaze upon his mother. Before he can speak, though, Mai bounds forward, bouncing around the elder's paws. "I did! I sawed 'im!" And, just as quickly as she'd bounced over to Feleti, Mai is back over near Demissle, shovin' her tiny little nose up against his. "I ain't lyin'!" The pint-sized princess protests, golden-tufted tail lashing behind her. "Oh, yeah," Anubis responds to Demissle's questions. "Had the whole lion in one bite, he did. And.. on my honor.. he's MUCH bigger than I am. Ain't he, Mom?" He questions, glancing in Feleti's direction. Mai nods emphatically, ears flopping. "SEE?" She tells Demissle. "He's bigger than fifty-leven of Papa!" To her sister, Mai sticks out her tongue. "His name IS Lake Monster. So THERE!" Thpbbbt! Sisters.
Demissle blinks while peering over the the aging lioness and just peers at him slightly while flicking a ear forward before eyeing his father. "Wow.. SO.. can we go hunt 'em down den?" The boy questions while half bouncing around one of his father's huge paws as if it was a toy. Well its huge, sorta like a rock and all. Another glance is offerd to Feleti. "Who's that?" This questions to his father, but anyone can answer. Wit this said he snorts hearing Sela. "Oh.. you think your SO smart don't ye?"
A pause is held as Mai comes darting over, just so that Feleti doesn't risk stepping on her granddaughter. The lioness leans down, giving the girl a bump to her side with the bridge of her muzzle as she darts back to Anubis. "Just make sure he doesn't see YOU. Or y'gonna wind up like that lion." Paces are resumed, and within a few more moments, Feleti is right there in the thick of them. A forepaw is extended towards the silent Selamawit, and is teasingly ruffled over the girl's head. "So y'think it should have a name other than Lake Monster, eh? Got any ideas?" Bi-colored vision, however, flushes to Demissle as the cubling speaks. True, she hasn't seen Dem' since he was just a newborn; but she'll leave the introduction to someone else.
Indira has arrived.
And another old fart enters this scene. This one being Nishati... as he stiffly pads along. This day, the former king is a bit on the moody side... but he pushes thoughts of eating Sharvi alive aside as he notices several cubs, Feleti, and Anubis up ahead at the waterhole. Forcing a smile onto his muzzle, he approaches. The elderly lion saying nothing as of yet, simply waiting to be noticed, as he draws close to the water. Ears tilting forwards as he catches snippets of the conversation... which causes him to thingy a brow. Its never dull when Anubis is in the area, eh?
Um.. Filbert? Selamawit mmffles as her head is ruffled, but seemingly under the impression that Feleti is to be revered rather than played with, she blushes and has no real answer to offer. "Um. No.. 'Guess 'Lake Monster's fine." She frowns indignantly at Demissle before averting her eyes to yet another new arrival. "Grampa! GRAMPA!" Suddenly thrilled, Sela' shuffles to the edge of the platform that is Anubis and shimmies claws-and-teeth down his hindleg to the ground. "Grampa Nish!" A little blur of white, the girl goes tearing toward the elder male and skids to a halt before him, beaming.
Shumusi has connected.
Friti has connected.
"That's why we're here, Dem." Mai says, swinging a playful paw at her brother's ear. "We gotta hunt down that lake monster 'n make sure it don't eat Momma or Granpa or Gramma Fay or Tamri or.." As Mai continues on, listing just about every Kimondo dweller that she knows, Anubis smirks and reaches out a paw to ruffle the fur between Demissle's ears. "That's your grandmother, squirt. Champion Lake Monster Hunter. Taught me everything I know." ".. Esi'.. Askari.. Ki'ama.." And then Anubis' gaze is drawn to yet another newcomer, this one being his father-in-law. Nishati is given a grin and a quick nod in greeting, before Anubis returns his attention to the rambling Mai. "..Jaoja.. Zaira.." "Yo, squirtette, take your siblings and start on your monster hunt, eh? Give a shout if you see it." Mai bounces in place, looking incredibly excited at the prospect of finding the monster before her siblings.. otherwise ignoring the old people. "I'll find 'im first!" She assures them.. racing off down the waters edge.
Demissle ohs.. and grins while his tail lashes a few times, his gaze going to his father then over to his grandmother and he ohs before grinning. "Hallo!" Dem calls out like the happy child he is. "Hey.. you got two different colured eyes like me." The boy states while bounding over to Feleti's from and peering up at her before going about batting at Mai. "Naw. I bet I will!" Though his attention is turns to Nish and he grins. "Hi grandpa!" He states happly.. Happy kid huh?
She is made aware of Nishati's presence by Selamawit's sudden outburst -- and her head lifts, eyes swinging aside to land on the frame of the incoming lion. Without hesitation or any grace, she hollers over, "Ah, but it's good t'see another old fart out an' about!" Tail taps mischeviously against her ankles, before Feleti is distracted away by Mai's amazing capacity to ramble. She regards her granddaughter in quiet amazement for a moment, before smirking and eyeing Anubis. "She sounds just like you did when you were a kid. Babble-babble-babble." Head lowers when Demissle speaks to her, and she blinks back into the boy's eyes. "Yep. You've got a blue one just like mine, kiddo!" But she straightens, allowing the cubs to go begin their 'hunting expedition'.
Nishati is suddenly bombarded! He blinks in surprise as Selamawit comes racing towards him, and then skids to a stop. His forced smile isn't so forced as it becomes an amused grin, "Hey there, Sela" he greets back to the white cubling, reaching a paw out to ruffle her head fur. "What are you and the others doing out here, hm? Hunting monsters?" Anubis then catches his eye and he smirks at the young king, giving a nod to him. "Hey Demissle!" he calls back... and then rolling his eyes at Feleti's comment. Snort. XD
Selamawit has disconnected.
Mai is already hard at work a-huntin' for that evil lake monster, forty-leven teeth and all. The princess races around the water hole, pale eyes watching ripples on the waters surface, looking for any tell-tale signs of the monster. She WILL find it first! 'Cause she's best. As she races by Feleti, Nishati and Anubis she manages to call out, "Hi, Granpa!" before her attention is returned to the water. Anubis watches the cubs with an amused smile, glancing sidelong at Feleti. "I didn't talk THAT much as a kid!" He protests. Pause. "Did I?" Well.. whatever. XD Like father, like daughter, it seems. "Keep on the lookout for the lake monster, Nish," the king drawls casually to the older lion. "We're in trouble if it gets hungry. It can eat one lion in a single bite, you know." Mai, again racing by, nods. "Yeah! An' it's bigger than Papa!"
Demissle grins at his grandparents before his attention follows after Mai.. He'll show her a thing or thing or three and darts of following Mai to try and get a step up on finding the monster! "Is gramma and granpa gona help find the monster?" Dem suddenly questions as his mismatched gaze snaps back to the three adults as he pauses, a forepaw even half raised off the ground as he was in mid walk when he questioned this.
"Ohyeah. Y'sure did." Puffing out her chest in a melodramatic fashion and rolling her eyes, she whines, "Mooom, what's this? Moooom, can we go here? Moooooom, Xian's annoyin' me again! Mooooom, Mooooom, Mooooooooom!" Ears pin back, and Feleti snickers at her own memories. "You drove me crazy half the time." And now, in a gesture that's meant to be affectionate but that is nearly ridiculous, the lioness reaches over with a paw to ruffle the tangled colors of Anubis' mane. An ear casting aside as she hears Demissle, the graying lioness raises a brow at the boy. "Y'don't need US t'help you! We're .. OLD!"
