Kushoto bumbles along-- a smallish boy,he has already the gallopy, gallumping gait of a hyena, one that makes his small shape easily distinguishable for what it is. He's pretty sure he's left the girls behindfor now: they're his age but still bigger, but he's cultivated the art of being dodgy, so he -thinks- they may have got confused. Accidentally kicking mud intotheir eyes was also a plus though! The boy giggles anxiously to himself as he allows himself to slow down, panting and staring about him. Huh. This is a bit different from where he'd started out...
He'd been rather displeased when Aya set them down on the border, since he'd prefer to stay as far away from the owners of those scent markers as possible, but Najisi hasn't moved. If he did, what if Aya got back, and couldn't find him, and just /left/? His worries are the only thing that's kept him here, though. He lies flat on the ground, his ears and eyes attentive to his surroundings, and as a result his gaze is pulled immediately to the hyena pup. Well, /crap/. The boy lowers his head at once, trying to make himself smaller, but--whatever Kushoto is, he's not really /big/. Smaller than Najisi, in fact. Still, he keeps a wary eye on the other boy--small young things are usually accompanied by big older things, in his experience.
The air smells like bad, and it makes Kushoto lower himself to a skulk, instinctive. Oh -dear-. Still-- he can hear other voices on the wind, so he keeps forward, creeping-- perhaps Najisi might recognise the creeping, uncertain gait. The hyena's long neck swings uncertainly back and forth as he peers, exagerratedly anxious.
He does, and he looks off towards the direction Kushoto had come from, wrinkling his nose. He /must/ have somebody else with him. Unless...maybe he's alone like Najisi was, before he ran into Aya? He certainly /walks/ like he's alone. The thought brings with it a cautious sense of relief; he doesn't need another run-in with a huge, scary animal. Why is Kushoto crossing into the lions' territory, though? Doesn't he know they could chomp him in two? A vague sort of concern drives him to ease forward on his belly, and then, rising to his feet, he slinks closer. His belly scrapes the grass; his posture is equally uncertain, not aggressive. "Baya," he calls urgently, trying to warn the hyena off. "Go, go."
Certainly Kushoto -doesn't- look too big or scary, either. But he- does- stop when he sees that eeling movement, lower to the ground than anyone -he- knows can get. That's much more scary thano ne of the girls. Oh -no-! Is that-- it's bigger than he is, and it's-- he's not sure! He's never seen a lion cub bedfore, so while he knows -cat-, what -kind- of cat bewilders him at first. The other calls something at him and he takes a step back. "Why?" frightened. Oh -no-! This must be -bad-.
Whoever this is, he probably speaks the same bizarre language that Aya does. How can Najisi make him /understand/? He'd been approaching at an angle, and now he moves to put himself in front of Kushoto, trying to block his way further into Tyne. "Baya," he repeats, frustrated, and casts around for a word that they might know. He can't come up with anything except maybe: "Asadi!" Would Aya understand that? Probably not. Then probably the hyena won't, either. His ears fold back, and he makes a little shooing motion. "Go."
"Hey, I can go wherever I want!" he's trying to be tough and not doing too well. Especially because when the other boy shoos at him he takes a quick hop back, making a worried high-pitched cackle. "What's in there? Is it something -interesting-? I bet the girls wouldn't come here--"
Pretty much the only words /he/ understands are 'go' and 'I.' Najisi cocks his head to one side, wrinkling his brow as he tries to figure out what the other is saying. Probably in the same way that Kushoto is trying to figure out what /he's/ saying. "Asadi. Asadi, baya." Pause. Oh, this isn't working. He makes another of those shooing motions, then raises his shoulders and puffs himself up, suddenly, trying to do a (rather bad) impression of a grown lion. They'll /eat you/! Trying to demonstrate this, he bares his teeth, then shrinks back all of a sudden, looking frightened again. Trying to mime Kushoto, maybe. But his imitations are, more than likely, rather confusing, and they might make him look outright aggressive.
Kushoto really startles at that, backpedaling. But then the little cat first bares his teeth-- he bares his own back, but everything else about his body language is terribly unsure. The moreso when the other boy hunkers down. "I wasn't doing anything--" he protests. "I was running away from stupid girls. They kept wanting to go and run at bees. I don't -like- bees and they always made me go -first-!"
And of course, Kushoto doesn't seem to get it. Najisi shakes his head, scowling, and eels forward a bit--trying to urge the other boy back. "/Baya/," he says yet again, but all he gets in response is gibberish. Finally, too frustrated to argue, he moves aside. But he does it very grudgingly, and he glares over his shoulder at the hyena. Well, he /tried/ to help. Don't blame /me/ when one of the lions rips you in half, his expression seems to say.
But now, of course, Kushoto has had enough-- it's the glare that really breaks his spirit. "-Fine-." Huffy and upset and quite on edge. He backs up a few paces and then turns, hurrying off and away-- the girls might insist he be the bee-vanguard but at least that's -familiar-.
Kushoto seems upset, but so is /he/. Although...when the boy storms away, he turns and stalks off back into the Forgotten Lands. Seeing this, Najisi bellows, "Ndiyo!" after him, encouraging, and then--what's that word Aya uses? "/Yes/!" And another that typically seems to come up whenever the wolf is being nice to him: "Good!" /That/ was what he wanted! Though he hadn't meant for Kushoto to get huffy about it. Frowning, still, he settles himself down on his stomach to await Aya's return, watching the hyena's small, sloping form retreat off into the barren savanna.
