Ndege, Female Lioness

[Kivuli] Grasslands
She was late. Quite late.. but that was her fault. She'd taken too long in leaving, and had dawdled a bit on the road. Fortunately, the trail had never gone cold or else she might've been lost somewhere in the middle of nowhere. But, this /had/ to be it. Kivuli. Her new "home". For, it would never /truly/ be home. Home was with Jinjin'tau, with her parents. Ndege pushed her way through the long grass, head swiveling round to look at the splendor of the grasslands. It was pretty -- she'd give it that much -- but she'd never put it on the same level as home. "Be positive!" she reminded herself, and consciously put a smile on her face. Now! ..Where'd everyone go?
Although he's begun spending a little time in areas more central to Kivuli lands, the grasslands are a pleasant place to relax, and Sammar has been trying to do just that-- of course, it's hard because he's got no idea with Chaosti is, or Amahl, and of course there's Ndalia to worry about. He's been occupying himself this afternoon, between naps, with grooming and pulling at his claws. His coloration blending in with the glasslands colors, but the scents of both him and the rest of the Jinjin'tau, as well as the foreign (to them) Kivuli, are also evident. Someone's coming his way, too-- who? He lifts his head, tongue still half-out, to stare.
Oh! A noise! Ndege's ear twitched unconsciously, and she glanced over in the direction it had come. Was it.. one of the Kivuli? She gulped nervously, and might have smoothed her fur if she could have. She wasn't ready to meet one of them just yet! She wasn't technically one of the group.. meaning they might not take kindly to her intrusion. "H-helloooo?" she called, advancing slowly. "Stupid grass.." she muttered quietly to herself, cursing the particularly dense patch she'd just turned in to.
The voice sounds familiar -- but not like any of the lions he'd come with-- who is -this-? He hasn't done socializing much, so it's not someone from Kivuli. He inhales, which tells him-- "-- Ndege?" startled. But-- she wasn't supposed tobe part of the group! Was she? Did he -forget- someone?
"Eh?!" Ndege nearly jumped, but the reflexive extension of her claws seemed to prevent it. "W-who.. who's there..?" --WAIT. Waitwaitwait. She knew that voice! Her relief was visible, and she nearly laughed. /Scruffy!/ ..Or, well, she'd never call him that to his face -- but she couldn't help but refer to him as such, quietly, to herself. Now able to pinpoint his exact location, she moved much more quickly through the grass. "Well /hello/ there, Sammar!" she said, as if it wasn't at all strange that she'd just shown up -- uninvited.
"-- -Ndege-!" it's a snarl, and it's at least partly genuine-- he's -upset-. "Where -were- you?" maybe if he at least can pretend that he lost her-- that's better than admitting he oughtright -forgot- that she was with the party. He could -swear-, up and down, that their group was -it-, but surely he must have been mistaken! And regardless of the fact that Ndalia is official leader, he thinks of it as -his- job to lead.
Bowing low like a scolded cub, her expression was apologetic. "Sorry! I .. ah.. followed you guys.." Ndege offered a toothy grin, continuing to keep her posture low. Her mind wandered a bit, and she considered that he should be /happy/ to see her! She was there to bring peace and love and joy! Another happy face should be welcomed! Oh.. but he was still upset.. "Er.. um -- how was the trip? Did you eat well? I hope the sun wasn't too hot.." and she glanced skyward with her eyes alone. "..Y'know.. 'cause it could be.. hot? Eheheh." Oh /please/ don't stay mad!
-- Oh. What? -What-? His tail's started to lash as he moves a little closer. "You weren't even supposed to -come-?" he's upset now-- this is -just- as bad! It's -worse-! "Why didn't you stay there? There is -much- better than here. Pfeh. Don't -start-, girl." It's a growl. All those happy faces should be back in Jinjin'tau lands! Not here! Nevertheless... "Too -hot-? We're in the middle of a -drought-. -Well-. I'll have to go and find Ndalia and let her know--" and with that some of the growliness dissipates from his voice.
"Well.. no. But I can explain!" And with that, she rose up just a bit. "I /know/ it's better there than here! You think I don't know that?" Ndege paused again, shooting him a look. She'd intended to appear insulted, but it looked more like she was pouting. "I was worried! ..About Ndalia, and whoever this mysterious /stud/ is that's around here somewhere. And /you/ -- of course. Half of everyone I know, up and leaving for some far away land? I just couldn't stand around and wonder!" Ndege had all but admitted that she was just intensely curious, but hoped that in his mood he might've overlooked it. "..And if you're going to tell her, you'd better tell her everything I said--" she looked up at him out of the corner of her eye, as if suspicious of foul play. "--No twisting things around like I did something wrong!"
"--Stud-," Sammar repeats, and scowls. Luckily for Ndege, he is -indeed- fuming now on Ndalia and Mizuka. -Again-. "Well I can't send you -back-, can I." As if he has the power, at this point. "-- I'll -tell- her all right. If you see any guards-- knights-- who give you trouble, tell them you're a -straggler-." So -embarassing-. "I'll go let Ndalia know." Yes, -now-. He stretches his neck out to touch his nose briefly to the other's-- a more official greeting, and maybe one that might let the other cat know that he's -not- planning on dragging her back home by the ear, before heading off.
