Just a quick thought for Tilly/Sho... Might be interesting to setup a user gallery on the website, or perhaps even a Oekaki ( I think that's what they're called... those online-art programs everyone can use... ) for our artsy crowd. I /think/ we have the storage space on the server to do something like that - I'd have to check to be sure. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oekaki -- seems to be as good a starting point as any if there is interest in that realm. Not exactly sure how one would implement that as my specialty and training is almost exclusively in hardware, operating systems, and networking. (I /hate/ working with HTML or MUF/Forth!) ... But gimme a wish-list and I can look into it. TTFN~! ~Maiza/Ekrem/Eos/Kasia/Shumusi/Yvonne/Etc., etc., etc....

An Oekaki would be a fun idea, but I have no idea how I'd go about implementing one. As for user galleries, I'd be happy to add one if there's any interest. I'll play around with a test page and see what I can do.

On the old site Yllan made fancy links to everyone's galleries, which was easiest. Not that I'm against hosting people's MUCK-related art on the site or anything.. but linking to people's galleries just seems easier, as otherwise we'd have to remember to keep the galleries updated or people would have to remember to update that gallery. And if people want their other, non-MUCK related art to be seen, they'd still have to point people to their other galleries.
An oekaki might be neat.. but I have no idea how to implement one either. So long as us staff would all be able to be set as staff on it or whatever they do on oekaki so that it can be policed.. for MUCK-related/african species related art only.

I was thinking about maybe starting up a 'Sunrise Artists Club' of sorts-- making little image badges for people who were included in the gallery page (when and if it gets made), so they could link back to the Sunrise community, get the MUCK some exposure, and get eachother some too.
I peered at Oke-whatever.. and managed to get into the Shi-chan applet, on a library computer.. but it seems to have a lot less features than 'Sketcher', which TLKFAA uses... And there didn't seem to be a chat in the version I looked at, whereas sketcher had one.
However, Sketcher costs them moneys. Oke-whatever doesn't seem to.

By the by-- Using IE version 6.0 at the moment, and the website looks perfect.
The forums... there's little white boxes around all the sun and paw icons. XD

I'm kind of torn on the gallery vs. image links thing--just linking to DeviantArt galleries or whatever would be easiest, but on the other hand I doubt anyone here draws ONLY Sunrise-related things, which may be what people are expecting to see when they start clicking through galleries on the MUCK website.
I dunno. Obviously people want their non-SR work showcased as well, but if some visitor clicks on a gallery from the website and finds, say, a hundred pictures, only five of which are Sunrise-related...that may not be what they were expecting. Like how the oekaki would have to be Sunrise/African wildlife-related. You know?
Maybe I'm not making any sense. x.x I'm sorry, guys; I'm beat and, quite frankly, I'm surprised I can still form coherent sentences. XD Maybe I'll take another shot at explaining it when I haven't been on my feet for fourteen hours.

Apologies for the delay... I went ahead and double checked what our website acct limits are... Domain: sunrisemuck.com Hosting Login: sunrisemuck Server IP Address: 68.178.254.109 Dedicated Hosting IP: Billing Date: 2/5/2008 Status: Setup Disk Space: 3.00 MB of 5000.00 MB (0.06%) Bandwidth: 50.18 MB of 250000.00 MB (0.02%) And as you can see... we've got a goodly amount of storage space (5Gb), and we're using hardly any of it or our total bandwidth, so those aren't really concerns. As for the board/chat oka--thingie... Pots? Could you give me a link to it? I might be able to spring for it if it's not too expensive... I just don't have the time to really fitz with any of this too much personally, so again someone else would have to actually get it functional if there's support for getting one up and running. Kudo's to Shomoro and Tilly for getting it operational once the pieces were provided. Anywho, I'm out for the forseeable immediate future. I'm being transfered to a new base on Tuesday and am not entirely sure when I'll have a steady 'net connection between now and shortly thereafter. Leave a message with Aria if you really need to get in contact with me (doubtful, but you never know) ... she should have my E-mail and Google-Talk addy. TTFN! ~Maiza

sketcher.artgrounds.com/ <<-- Sketcher 'rental'.. o.O I don't think we'd use it enough to justify paying anything for it.. @.@ Nifty idea, though. :>

Well, what if we don't necessarily host an entire gallery of everyone's art, but maybe a gallery of people's characters? That would cut down on alot of fluff-art. And then we could still link back to everyone's DA so that the rest of their art can be seen.
